Should they bring back Steel Thunder?
Changing view distances is understood on all options.
Should we:
Bring back Steel Thunder as it was
Bring back Steel Thunder but remove tanks
Bring back Steel Thunder but remove tanks and APC's (humvee's / nanjing's only)
Do not bring back Steel Thunder.
I liked Steel Thunder a lot. The map was large for the time and really had some nice atmosphere to it. I would like to see it come back, but I'd like to see what the community thinks.
I'd like to see it come back but without the tanks or APC's -- they can zoom now and that would criple gameplay.
I should have added an option for choppers -- I think they should stay though.

yay guys i said yes but i know the mappers are working on alot of brand new mpas for 0.7! Lets give these guys a chance to take there time with 0.7 and get it the best anyone can ever think of. they made great mods and everything but some maps would not fit. think of Steel Thunder, the tanks could see all the way or close to all the way across the map. Inf would have no chance.

Whilst Steel Thunder was an excellent map, i have no doubts there will be better ones in the pipeline.
Wasn't there going to be a large tank forest map with the challenger in it? screenies on rhino's site?
BTW a community map pack would be sweet, although i cant help thinking if it wasn't officially PR endorsed it would split up the community with diff servs running diff maps. It would have to be at least announced in the server description.

You know it was called Steel Thunder for a reason.Expendable Grunt wrote:Bring back Steel Thunder but remove tanks

I liked that map, and I wouldn't mind seeing it back. The tank zoom isn't that much of an issue due in part to the forest itself. It shortens view distance and can hide well H-AT guys. And from what I remember, it also had attack choppers.

The options are kinda restrictive but anyway. I reckon that it was a good map just the fog and the low light made it a ***** to play, if this could be changed I'd probably really enjoy it. A few less pieces of armour would be good though.
How come there isn't room for it anyway? If the mods like 1.6-8 gig or whatever it is is 80meg gonna make much difference? Dunno how another map might effect the size of the mod in other ways though.

Same but I cant vote for any of those options. It needs expanding, you cant have tanks on a map that small anymore and it isnt an infantary map so it would be a desecration to even try that.
I'd like to see it quadrupled in size with each of the four corner flags sent much further away from each other. Plus it would need something else to make it a good map but Im no chef..

I love Steel Thunder as it was. I completely forgot about the map though... I thought it was still included in PR, but kind of shocked to hear it was removed
. Maybe if they do add it back, and take off the armor, adding 2 more CP's would definitely make it better for infantry.
I always like a map that fights across a river with some bridges... much like Qwai.
