Bring back the doctor, change the war vet? (v2.0)

Post by Expendable Grunt »

Right, I couldn't find my original thread so here we go!

DOCTOR
The Doctor in .5 was a bit unbelievable because how often does a doctor pick up a weapon and fight? Well, I think you should have some sort of "medic" kit still. It's not a doctor at all, but a regular insurgent that knows how to patch wounds better then your average Joe. To emulate this, he has 12ish field dressings. However, to prevent nubs from soloing with the (obviously useful) kit, reduce it's weapon loadout. Give him a Pistol(2+1) / Knife , or ONLY an AK(2+1) / Knife. No frags, no binocs, nothing fancy. With the acc nurf, it's not really a "solo worthy" kit.

War Veteran
Drop this as a spawnable kit. Make it a squad-leaders kit with no accuracy nurfs (i.e. as accurate as the AK should be within the game). Maybe give him another common weapon from the middle east (kept his standard issue after he left the military, got it off the black market, etc), though the AK is good too. He should gain binoculars in the process. What of the current squad leader kit? Well, make the War Vet require 4 people in the squad to get, and take this current grenade launcher kit and make it a pickup kit along with the PKM and others. Give it a couple grenades (4ish), replace the 101 with the AK47/UGL and it should be fine.

Doctor would be better with some sort of sub or a **** rifle I reckon though and a really weak med kit with less bandages then the civvys. Although I don't think the civvys should have so many anyway.

On the subject of insurgents there no way of making the Squad leader kit easier to obtain? It's a pain in the arse on most maps because you have to come way form back at main base (especially the map where it's at that mosque), I don't even know where to get it on Basrah.

How about instead of your two suggestions, you use what you already have in-game:

DOCTOR: civilian has 12 field dressings...

WAR VETERAN: the insurgent Officer kit can be requested at spawn cars, main base and weapons caches for squads with at least 4 players. It has an AK (don't remember the number) with a UGL, binocs, etc.

Why saving lives of an insurgents? It is a glory for them to die during fighting with infidels. Just give them more tickets :razz:

Oh right, whenever I've tried to get it at caches it never worked, maybe it was some random bug or something.

The request at weapon caches was added in the 0.61 patch and should be working. If it's not, it's a bug.

Ah that'll be why. Not tried it since 0.61 came out.

100% yes!
just give the doctor 1+1 mags so he really can't lone wolf :)

i really cant stress how good this suggestion is... it would finally get rid of the surplus of war vets and provide the insurgents with a more believable kit layout.

And its an AK101 I think. I would prefer some sort of (rudimentary) sight on it too, nothing fancy, just a cheap aimpoint. It is a very valuble kit and its very rare to find it being used, so I think that justifies it. That and the fact it is **** compared to a '47 because of the smaller round. With the amount of sights around I am sure some of the INS would have picked one up and put it on their own gun, too.
Yeah, squad leaders don't bother requesting the officer kit because:
A. They don't know where to request it
B. They don't want to give up 14 intelligence points when they get killed/arrested

Get it off the spawncars. But do it fast, before everyone jihads them.

I still think that insurgents and militia must have full 7-kit selection bar...c'mon , they aren't conventional army.
they need :
* more kits - western mercenaryes with very good equipement ( maybe even better then conventional army's kits ) as a pickups , etc. Pakistani mercenaryes , etc.
* more variety of weapons - all those SKS's , FAL's , G3's , M16A1 ( aswell as chinese unlicenced copyes ) , RPK's , H&K-33 etc. Atm insurgents look really poor , speaking of variety ;
* WWII stuff , mainly GB's & Germany's ;
* civilian paramedic - defibs , field dressings , medkit

GB\USMC teams shouldn't win only because they have better equipment . Win should be based on vehicle usage & teamwork .

^ agreed in many-a post, insurgents need larger selection of guns both for realism and general fun. Preferably more pick-up kits and i dont mean the hidden uber-leet ones. Throw in some of the Milita-arsenal, and whatever other un-used models you have lying around that fit the discription.

Yeah, I kinda agree. I'm pretty sure insurgents would use any gun they find and use it but at the same time, we don't want players to be like, "z0mg i want teh *place weapon here*" and just try to find it without defending ammo caches.

Insurgents do not need Defibs.. but a class other than civs with grappling hook would be nice.
