On smaller maps I wouldn't even mind seeing insurgents fighting against the MEC. Probably impossible but imagine how interesting a three way map would be. US/UK vs. MEC vs. insurgents.

That's a good idea! Nah just MEC versus insurgents! A la saddam's old baathist fighting shiite insurgents!

if wee do insurgents

1. can we decrease the acuracy of the weapons so it is more realistic(seeing as you average Joe militaman canont shoot to save his life)

2. increase recoil ^^

3. no body armour not even the blck market provides that ^^.

there are actually insurgents in Special Forces.

all the insurgents need is AK47, RPG-7, RPK-74 and a G3 as well as some kind of sidearm...

Gez why dont you just tie both hands behind there backs put a knife between there teeth and have them run around trying to slice someone. Be about as effective. I really hope that suggestion wasnt serious. Thats the problem people often want realism that would destroy gameplay.

For the right price just about anything can be acquired through the black market. Of course top of the line weapons would be extremely rare, but don't doubt they're in the wrong hands. IIRC FN somehow lost or had a container of P90's stolen a few years ago. It's one of those stories I haven't seen varified, so I can't count on it 100%. Still not willing to discredit it completely considering other things on the blackmarket, such as MANPADS.

I see three classes (without even thinking before hand)

Support is rolled into AT; one guy with an AK47 and an RPG-7, plus ammo packs. No body armor, medium sprint.

Assault and Medic combine; one guy with an AK47, hand grenades and medic packs, no paddles.

Specops and Sniper combine; Bizon with a Draggie.

In short, all insurgents will be rocket-whores or snipers, just like the real ones!

Sounds like th insurgents will get t shit nocked out of em. Think about US/UK- Helicopters, Planes, Mobile artillery, Tanks, apc's, modern weapons, body armour and good aim
vs some poor dickhead wearig a balacllava with an AK he cant shoot for shit.

As I've suggested in another thread, I see insurgents as a option...
Their "story" could be somekind of religious leader assembling all militant muslims to an united front, to make holy war for world domination (that way, you could make them fight all the other fractions!).

But to make it both realistic and fair, I suggest this:

Following classes:
- Rifleman (AK47, 3-4 clips + 1 grenade)
- Sniper (Dragunov, 2 clips)
- IED-guy (remote-controlled IEDs (very high damage) + pistol)
- RPG-guy (RPG-7, 3-4 rockets (maybe 2 HE, 2 Anti-armour) + pistol)
- Suicide bomber (with large amount of explosive on body (high damage), able to detonate when wounded (but not dead of course) + pistol)

For all classes:
- No body-armour (!)
- Poor weapons-handling (but not totally sucking, fairly accurate on semi-auto, slower reloading)
- High running speed

For fraction:
- More/faster spawns
- More cars (fast technicals (toyota pick-up with 14.7mm) and maybe a VBIED)

This way, I think it would be both realistic (and "fun") to play insurgents... You would have to use the same tactics as most militias use in real life (ambushes with surprise element or bombings), and will be able to dominate a map.

Ideally, it would be combined with civilians (just some very stupid bots), so you couldn't tell the difference. And, of course, negative score for shooting a civilian.

Im not sure about suicide bomber, its realistic, but not many people are going to want to be one. Still this mods all about realism just where to draw the lines the tough bit

I guess this is more something that a coder should answer but can the classes themselves have poorer weapons handling? Or rather the teams? I thought it was more weapons by weapon as opposed to team by team. Would it even be possible to have a US or British soldier shoot more accurately than a militia gunman? If not I don't think that making the weapons less accurate is a great solution because then if a trained soldier picked it up their weapon skills shouldn't go down the drain.

True but I would think they'd be better than an insurgent correct? Not to mention when you hear of the inexperienced militiaman firing you often hear (black hawk down there was alot of it) guys firing from the hip and on full auto. Most people who've played realistic games know not to fire on full burst and theres no real option to go from hip to shoulder. I think that doing this to insurgents is going a little to far to handicap them since they already lack proper armour and air support.

You could, remember some of the insurgents are people who have faught in wars before, you can't discount all of them as not knowing how to use a weapon. I think in this case it needs to depend on the skill of the player at their PC rather than anything else. Give them the handicaps of fewer vehicles but I believe it should stop there.
