Sound in .61

Bought Sennheiser PC 161 last week, so I'd have to say that your new headphones are making the difference. Couple of days later, I splashed out for a soundcard as well.

Lets just say, I noticed a difference.

I only played a little bit but I noticed the sounds did seem a bit different, more quiet.

quiet im comparison to what?
vanilla?
thats wanted and will probably be more in future versions, cause we want more sound dynamics then the usual mainstream action game can give.
the trick is to turn your volume up, if its quieter then you are used to it. :)

the tank shell problem is a mix of both, the server/client not registering the hit and therefore not playing the sound and in 0.61 you dont even hear the impact well enough if you stand still in your tank and you would have heared the impact in V 0.6.
thats because of the increased obstruction in armoured vehicles.

the first issue is a hardcoded BF2 one, the second issue is a selfmade one.

unfortunatly this cant be fixed until 0.7. sorry..

EDIT: It actually IS fixed. Pretty simple solution.

We're not doing another patch but I'm 99% certain that punkbuster won't kick you for having a hotfix for it. Then again, I was 99% certain the way it was in the patch would work for everyone....

there will be no hotfix.
there is a way to change it manually with instructions, but we are 99% sure that servers with PB md5 check will kick you after that.
so, the best will be to live with it until 0.7
