Kind of reminds me of the old school Midway BF1942 map in terms of size to get places. It might feel the same (since old game had slow aircraft).

Would really be cool if we could bring submarines and movable ships back... I really miss those :( .

Well Wake is always fun, and if it is an even large scale, that should be cool too. Definitely needs lots more flags than the BF2 map imo. 2 beachhead points, 2 bridge points, 2 villages and one airfield, ftw!

I sure hope it has nice looking tropical waters :) Wake is a VERY hot place near equator. Me sips cocktail.

congrats on breaking the 4k x 4k barrier :)

so when dose kashan v2 come out that 4x as big as the original? :p

Here's my comment:

I truly love you guys now! For anyone that's been involved in the BF community since the BF1942 demo release, Wake holds a special place of honor. You have no idea how badly I want to play Wake again, but can't return to the "garden" and refuse to play vBF2'oob...thank you, thank you, thank you!

Oh and about the lack or scarcity of island spawns; maybe this will force some of the pubbers to muster around their squad leaders when prompted for rally point placement.

Heck why not experiment and fight over the airport only like the real battle?

Map still needs overgrowth (ammount is to be tested) and final lightmaps.

16 player layout (for clan wars mainly) is basicaly one HUUUUGE flag area (radius 2000m) in the mid air between two carriers and its all about air supremacy and gaining that airspace and therefore reducing enemys tickets.

32 and 64 are a bit tricky ones...

Idea is to have 2 carriers per side and to have spawns only by mapper set rallypoints wich really needs to be protected!

On the island there is an airfield that once its captured will spawn 2 bomber planes that must be used to bomb/destroy those mapper set rallypoints on enemys carriers in order to disable spawning on them wich will ultimately lead to heavy ticket bleed and victory.

This is going to be a tough *** map. I already see one squad with aa and heavy at decimating everything coming towards the island.

I see where your coming from but what your saying can happen in any map. It really all depends on who sees who first and that can go either way.

battleship mod have a map of 8x8 km too, with a 2 km view distance (i think)

oh i would love that (still draw distance for statics would be problematic), anyone know how to set view distance to more than 1000m?

I was thinking on that too but from gameplay experience on every map that has carrier (and this one would have 4 of them) people tend to spawn on them and they get stuck there for certain period of time.

So this island (2 times bigger than original one)wont get overcrowded, it shud be more than enough groung to fight on.

I broke the 4k x 4k barrier way before 4k maps where possible. the problem is that the colour maps are not rescaled, so the only thing you can do is hide that by covering it with water like terror has done here... Also the battleships mod has a scale 8 map which is all sea too which i told them how to do...

Terror, when egg said he wanted to see a scale 8 wake island map, he did mean a 1:1 scale of the island as it is in r/l, not the vBF2 size with extra water around and afew tweaks :p

got lots of work still do do I see, but good start. Really needs a Chinese carrier...

Also the sky dose not come atall close to the light and water settings... you will need to tweak them also, aswell as the sky dose not look that nice... maybe a nice sunset even? :)

well, if they have flat, only sea map, they can go far beyond 8x8...

This island is two times bigger than vBF2 island and it shud be more than enough ground to fight on... :)

(aldo [R-CON]Desertfox and me are working on somekind of workaround regarding new carriers :) )
As for skys goes, colourmatch need to be acomplished for all 3 things:
clouds,
fog and
sky texture it self.


Do you remember one guy who was making some map for polish forces that had more than 1000m view distance, do you know how to create that?

just edit the init.con file but aint 100% sure if it will work.

make sure you also edit your fog settings in the sky.con
