Blaging maps for use in PR

Post by Hitperson »

I think we need to go around asking so map developers if we can edit thier work just so we can compile a series of maps for PR

post your recomendations here --> Black Hawk Hunt.

Both the totalBF2 map packs :)
I suggested it a long time ago that even if PR would include them as is as standard (to support TotalBF2, whatever) they would see a HUGE increase of interest to the mod. Remember, its hard to download a map pack and run it, but its easy to download a mod ;)

i would suggest that you go and ask "would you like to design a map for PR". the key is that the guy will get full credit for his map (and he knows this). by asking "can we edit", i as map creater would not so sure if so. if you get "the stone to roll", maybe a few guys will permanent design maps for PR or at last get out a PR compatible version of their maps.

Strike at Karkand 2

Checkpoint Abadan

Operation Power Failure

Maszarqi Siege
This Map needs a refinish, in its current state it is a resource hog and a few objects are much to bright.
But if theese bugs are out it could be one of my favorites

I belive its a port of a map originaly from Joint Ops.
Mostly infantry based on urban combat.

Really Gay Guy

America was a tad late into the First World War. They redeemed themself's and came in slightly sooner in the Second. Now they seem determined to start the Third.

Only in the name, sadly. The real Kutu Arms Market pwned... But it was because it was a long stretched layout, similar to Karkand. It focused combat into a narrow corridor, one big maze of buildings (narrower than Karkand as there was only one major street but there where a ton of alleys, and of course the big market smack in the center).

I want to see a true Kutu remake :)

Hey Guys,

Been working on PR / AAS support for custom maps. Have a few in a stage where they are testable now, gonna see about getting them into testing on a server other than my own.

I thought the TBF2 Map Pack 2 maps were okay but there are many other great maps out there as well. Some of the maps I've tested lately are better than those that came with BF2 imo.

One thing to consider for PR support is AAS support. Not just the naming convention... but how the CPs are laid out. Needs to be laid out in a way that compliments AAS' linear supply lines capture. Either in maps people are making or in custom maps that folks download... this should be considered.

Also I think some comments folks have made about armor needing to be brought up from rear bases is a valid consideration. It makes armor a lot more valuable and the game play that much more "realistic" that armor has to play a supporting role for Infantry. Unless of course a map is specifically designed to facilitate armor combat, ultimately most taking of ground in military actions falls to the grunt on foot.

Any maps folks see that they would like to see PR support for would be good to post some links to them in this thread.

When I have finished my first map would anybody help me by having a look at it for me and say where I have messed up, done something good and any improvements that could be made to it?

After all I think that other players feedback is the one of the most valuble things a map maker can have in order to get better :)

PS: Its only a very small map (256) so really only 16/32 player at a push but as its my first map its a start :P

Map description is as follows:

USMC forces have set up an outpost in the desert near to the small town of balluja, which has allows close protection of the nearby oil depot which supplies most of this vast region with fuel. Reminants of the MEC forces that once controlled this area are defending the town and are prepared for the imminent attack. In order for USMC forces to advance the town must be captured and the deopt secured, while MEC need to hold their position until reinforcements can arrive.

(Yes its a made up place name :D )

I would be willing to give my map to be used in PR. If it makes the grade, of course! :)

It is in Beta right now, need to fine tune a few things and do the Lightmaps and Env Maps - but if interested I can post a thread for it? Of course, to fit with a 'reality' mod - I would need to remove some of my...er...more explosive hidden areas.
