Because of the way you hold it I think. You hold it (most people do) with your right hand on the handlenexttothetriggerthingymajicwhatever and the left hand on the fron grip.nedlands1 wrote:Why to the left(unless of course you are shooting from your left shoulder)?
So it will go up and left because of that.
So it looks basicaly like this (from right above) I think when you hold the gun: _\
I don't know if any of that made sense, Kenwayy can probably give a better explanation.

Watch the end of the barrel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7ZQHmAcsPE. The firing position for a carbine isn't exactly the same as a fully fledged rifle but the effects should be similar.

I can vouch for that, I'm a left handed shooter, and when ever I shoot I'm tensing my entire upper body including my arm on the foregrip, thus the action of recoil causes me to deflect to the left and raising the barrel up, back and left. If the barrel were to raise to the right, it means that I'm practically pulling the rifle towards my right, thereby tensing my hands and making for a shaky firing position (I tend to twitch when tensing my hands).

Exactly. And if you are in a comfortable firing position does the barrel tend to return to its original position?Chuc wrote:I can vouch for that, I'm a left handed shooter, and when ever I shoot I'm tensing my entire upper body including my arm on the foregrip, thus the action of recoil causes me to deflect to the left and raising the barrel up, back and left. Awesome work. This means that recoil can be modeled very accurately.Jonny wrote:OK, did that:
75 rounds unzoomed, 110 zoomed
unzoomed total units moved is 1.1 x 75 = 82.5
which gives 2.2 degrees per unit,
zoomed total gives 0.88 x 110 = 96.8
which gives 1.9 degrees per unit.
the avarage here is 2.05 degrees per unit, so each unit can be thought of as aproximately 2 degrees.

Really? From what i've seen the weapon behaves exactly the same all the time.nedlands1 wrote:It is random. That is what the "CRD_UNIFORM" modifier is for. It stands for continuous random distribution_Uniform. This means that every value, within the designated range, has an equal an equal chance of happening.
