Ambient Backgrounds
OK so this is something that would make a hell of a difference to the game.
I know it's been brought up before (somewhere) but here goes.
We definately need some sort of background ambient noises, like gunshots, explosions, etc. It doesn't have to be relative to what is actually going on, but it would add so much feeling and ambience to the game.
Take a look at this. Half Life 2 mastered is perfectly:

(Sounds (C) Valve)
Now THAT is what would add so much more feeling to this game.
Your thoughts?

Load 2 media players, play both files, and loop them, and enjoy the show! THAT is what we need!

DC had awsome ambient sound have some thing like that.
Harrod200:"Fire.exe has committed an illegal operation and has been shut down"
Raniak : "Warning: May crash if fired upon."
M4sherman: "like peter pan but with tanks"
[R-MOD]Eddiereyes909 (on sim tower) "It truly was the game of my childhood and has led to me getting my degree in industrial engineering."

about ambient sounds:
they are GOOD.
ambient battle sounds??? BAD IMO.
you dont want to hear mg fire in the distance constantly that isnt actually there....
what i love is hearing that erie calm after you just took out an enemy squad. and then hearing those tank tracks a km out rolling into your position..
but as for ambient wilderness sounds, im all for it! whether its leaves swaying, running water, sounds of ocean waves lapping on a beach, birds chirping in trees, insects at dawn/dusk, etc.
even the ambient sounds vanilla bf2 has for factories, city streets isnt too bad (by the one factory in oman, its a very creepy ghost-like sounds, go by there on an empty server and youll know what i mean)
i am strongly against ambient battle noises though, i think youll be hearing enough gun fire as it actually happens, and ambient battle noises will just get annoying and repetitious after a little while.

I agree with fuzzhead. I think that being able to hear people running, vehicles moving, teams speaking to eachother are a big part in tactics and my ability to Pwn the enemy. I listen and listen good.
If you have ever been in combat there is actually a ton of dead silence and then a quick heated battle then back to silence. Not continuous noise. That is unless you are under close air or arty support. This game has the ability to provide that so I dont think ambient noises are necessary.

Royal Green Jackets- Britains premier infantry regiment

Air force definition of explosives: A loud noise followed by the sudden going away of what was once there a second ago.
Retreating?! Hell no, we're just attacking the other direction!

I agree. In BF2 absolutely no map had a war-feeling going on. It`s like both armies out of the blue thought "fuk lets start shooting at each other" while doing their shopping. I was hoping PR would bring some gritty bombed-to-shit maps and skies filled with smoke but no.
Even ambient combat sounds would be nice.
