No carbine is as powerful as a full sized equivalent assault rifle because of the shorter barel length, so something is wrong with the QBZ rifle and carbine damages, and the MP7 may be about right.
Don't you mean size of the round? You could have a sawed off shotgun do just as much damage as any other shotgun. The MP7 has a smaller round then a regular carbine. That is why it does less damage.

doesnt the G3a3 do more damage then 48? most of the time it is 1 shot and you get the lsd effect, it feels more like 80 or something.

Shorter barrel length doesn't effect power, it effects accuracy.

Shorter barrel length effects muzzle velocity. Muzzle velocity effect penetration. Penetration effects how much injury a round inflicts (penetrating vs not penetrating).

The G3A3 used to do the same damage as the DMR's (62). Now it is quite a bit less.

The MP7 has a small, high velocity round which is pretty much a scaled down rifle round. This apparently allows it to penetrate body armor with greater effect. However it is said that it is not as effective as a larger round on an unarmored target.

can we make the weapon range drop-off a lot closer in?

it is really hard to go snipe someone from 200m away with ironsights, much less 600 or 1000 meters, even with a scope.

in other words, its pointless.

if you've played 2142 you'll know how range affects damage in a big way.
i.e.
at pt blank it takes like 3 pistols shots to kill.

and 100 yards it takes a full clip.

mm kinda weird because I still die in 2 shots from a G3a3 doesnt this mean it does more than 50 dmg? you still get the blurry effect after 1 shot. Maybe I'am wrong but 48 dmg doesn't feel right.

Actually that's incorrect. Fragmentation rate after penetration is what you are looking for. Many studies (and personal experience) show the M855 penetrator rounds (green tips) to utterly useless in the stopping power department.

The carbines should have lower accuracy but shouldn't suffer a damage decrease.

We (well at least I) are talking about soldiers who are wearing body armor. Most conventional army soldiers, in this mod, are wearing body armor. The lower the muzzle velocity, lighter the round and bigger the cross-sectional area the less penetration. If a round can't penetrate the layers of body armor then it's fragmentation characteristics are useless. I would wager that the more likely a round is to fragment, the better its force dissipated and hence stopped by body armor.

The damage values need to reflect whether round penetrates body armor or not. If a round is slow enough or has enough of the aforementioned attributes to be stopped, then the damage should be low. If however the round penetrates, then the damage should be a great deal more.

What this means for short barreled weapons is similar damage values to their full sized counterparts for short range engagements. However, the damage dropoff threshold should happen at a shorter range, to simulate the lower muzzle velocity taking its toll.

Awesome, I loved it in Bf2v. sounded a bit like a tokka toy though. Any plans for implenting PDW (personal defence weapons e.g. P90, MP7, MP5?) for crewman or they stickin with the assault rifles?

You are playing spec ops I bet?

Spec ops + 1 G3 shot = you is dead.
