Yeah, that is a better "altGuiIndex".

are we gonna eliminate pump action shotguns?
irl the USMC uses the benelli m1014, not the reminton m11-87
and besides, the 11-87 is semi auto anyways.

Why not just give the engineer a regular M16/M4 with a shotgun attachment on the bottom?

No, "we" are not. And it was discussed among the devs months ago that US will have the M1014 in the next patch and the UK will not.

For military operations on urban terrain (MOUT), shotguns are used by infantrymen and other combat arms soldiers designated as breachers. So, a designated rifleman or cavalry/LAR dismount scout would have one in a squad or fireteam. A Marine assaultman (SMAW and Javelin gunner) attached to a rifle platoon for an urban breaching action may carry one in lieu of his rocket or ATGM launcher, since they are also trained in demolitions and obstacle breaching. Likewise, a combat engineer "chopped" to an infantry unit might carry one for the same task, as they can receive what is known as "dynamic entry" training, as well.

Shotguns are also used in jungle warfare. The Brunei resident battalion of the Royal Gurkha Rifles can sometimes be seen with a shotgun or two in their rifle and recce sections.

Military police and other troops with a force protection role carry them for perimeter security, guarding enemy prisoners of war (EPWs) and less lethal/riot control.

*BUMP* 0.7 update? More realistic buckshot spread? ie ~1 inch spread per yard of travel (Source: http://books.google.com/books?id=DB82v7DdYygC&pg=PA206&lpg=PA206&dq=shotgun+spread+rule+of+thumb+forensic&source=web&ots=JhRUJ6-7iT&sig=XzfUdeZFPpe5c82VhQJOFbzIBsc#PPA206,M1) . This means adjusting the "ObjectTemplate.deviation.subProjectileDev" modifier value from "3" to "0.795". In all, a few minutes work and a world of difference.
