People afraid of pilots?

In maps like this one with the big bridge in the middle, with a train on it (Chinese vs Brits) the choppers are totally useless. It's much more fun to move out with your squad in a Jeep or on foot.

At maps where you need an airlift like maps with aircraft-carriers it's another thing. I really love choppers and I want to fly with whom ever. Doesn't matter. Even if I die, the next thing what I do after respawning is getting into a new chopper.

But just wait for 0.7 (whenever it will be :roll . With the new map Muttra v2 choppers just will kick ***! I loved the old map Muttrah and that was real fun! Everybody was fighting to get into a chopper! Hope this feeling will come back soon


What I want to say is: I'm not afraid of choppers Would fly with everybody. Just be a good pilot and don't fly kamikazze so others will get into your chopper, too

One can jump in a chopper which is flown by -=TB=-CmdUnknown or -=TB=-Kruder, without being afraid, that they crash that thing.

I personaly dont like dedicate transport chopper squads, they never get me to where i want and usualy you die and lose more time than if you went with a land vehicle

It is much better when one squad is working with a dedicated pilot (inside the squad)

Cause the time you take to type down where you want to go, you are already on the wrong place
Also if he is not on your squad, you cant tell him that there is a tank near the position he want to land

If the pilot is not from my squad i will use something else to transport my squad (unless the map is jabal, but i will first try to get an apc)

You can also create a squad being a pilot and your squad will respawn at the chooper, that way you can deploy troops very fast on anyflag, also works well on Basrah for cache hunting

I think that piloting should almost be a job, where people can give you points if you do your job, and if you don't, you don't get any (sort of like a taxicab - you give them money if they do a satisfactory job). Also, to get in a helicopter you should have to go to a PR helicopter school/aircraft school and unlock the "rotary-wing aircraft pilot" or "fixed-wing aircraft pilot" kits.

If you complete this, it shows that you are able to, 75% or more of the time, transport people to any location without any errors on your part.
Lastly, the main reason I don't take people where they want to go is because it's too hot to land safely in.

I disagree. Having a dedicated pilot squad allows more squaddies to help fight at the front. Often the squad wont need a chopper insertion so the pilot has nothing to do. When I pick up people from another squad I make sure that they tell me where they want to go via team chat. I first do a flyover to see if there is any fire to be drawn (eg AA/Tanks/APC/Jeeps) and if it is clear I land.

In real life, most of the armymen who had the chance to fly in helicopter where injured/dying (at least in Serbia), so there is a curse: "May you fly in a helicopter!"

before ever getting in a helicopter, i usually make sure i know the pilots reputation.

i NEVER get in a helicopter at the start of a round. i will gather my squad at the end of the carrier/LZ and explain our mission. then i will ask for pickup and if the helicopter makes it back alive, we know at least he has taken off once and landed once already. if hes sloppy at landing for us, we skip him and wait for the next.

no matter what i always always always make sure the pilot knows where i want to go BEFORE i get in the chopper. this helps the pilot out alot and i know im going to be dropped where iwant to be and not taken on a joy ride.

I only fly with dedicated pilot squads. i hate squad members in my squad wasting a precious spot being a pilot. i much rather have another man on the ground able to fight than the rare chance that i need a heli lift, which may only come up 2 or 3 times in a map.
