the vbf2 statics are actually useless for combat and cover, only if you climb on them.
i know you cant just create accesable buildings with rooms and stuff but i think it would be a big improvemenet to remove the "invisible wall" infront of the balconies so you can access them with ladders or ropes...what also would have to be done is that the small walls of the balcony and the floor of it are not only a texture or sth but that they provide cover and you can actually stand on them ( i tried that out in the editor and found out that once you stand inside the balcony you will just fall through the floor or the small wall unless you dont put an object beneath you)
i dunno how hard it is to change that but i think it would certainly improve the gameplay....
a possibility of prohibiting that everybody will go on balconys then would be that you can only acces few balconys which are equipped with a fixrope or ladder

SF buildings have balcony meshs, vbf2 dont.

right Teek. They are fall throughs to lower the file sizes. vBF2:SF has them because they found it was more useful.

Why can't we use BF2:SF statics? Or can we? AFAIK the "palace" in Basrah is actually an asylum from BF2:SF map Devil's Perch that is in the intro video.
I would really like to see some statics from SF the vBF2 ones got quite old I guess :mrgreen:

vBF2 statics had no need for accessible balconies, it was just a waste of polys to draw something that the player will likely never see. even now, we only need accessible balconies on Insurgent/Militia/ maps with mountaineer kits. the devs will probably be adding more statics in muttrah 2/other new maps we'll probably see some more accessible buildings then.
