M40

Post by Alecowns »

Nothing huge, it just kind of bothers me how fat and bulky it is in this mod. I have fired an m40a3 and feels and looks very slim. Also the ghillie suit looks kind of crappy. Most sniper videos or pictures I see of people in Iraq, they aren't even wearing ghillie suits.

I don't know what you're talking about, I always wear my ghillie suit to the desert.

But seriously, the devs probably have something cooked up for .7

Dont rush it(Sometime in the New Year). And there not wearing ghillie suits in those becasue there on a base, in a city or town. Not in the middle of the desert. And most US guns are being changed in the 0.7 release

Ok...Jedimushroom...cough...

I think the Brits. should have the M82 as sniper kit,and U.S. have M95/M82...

AND THE M82 NEEDS TO NOT BE ABLE TO JUST PICK UP!that so un-realistic...

An SF soldier (from a John Woo film, hence the dual SMGs) carrying the rifle was killed prior to the battle, his gear has laid undisturbed until rediscovered by a passer by during the battle.

And the M82 has been around since, well, '82, agent's car. Not exactly state of the art.

Oh, and they're micro uzis.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

the M40 in EoD is done very nicely, but then again but since the EoD and PR models are diffrent maybe there's some sort of diffrence with the old one and new one in real life?

IT'S just AgentScar, like I got a scar from that cut...

And I know the M82 has been around for a while, but still,it's an awesome sniper rifle and is unrivaled by other rifles, except in the mobility catagory. It can take out lightly armored APC's!

Lol,to the movie thing...

We do not have an M40 of any type modeled in the game at the moment, just the stock BF2 M24 model. Stock ghillie-suit models, too. New models for those are not high on the list.

Agentscar, the US has not adopted the M95, though it was the original winner of the XM107 trials before the requirement was changed to a semi-automatic rifle. The M82 series of rifles has been around for 25 years; since 1982, as Bob said. They actually saw their first combat in Afghanistan with US-equipped mujaheddin groups.

And we have already stated that the M92 pick-up will be going bye-bye; it was placed as an easter egg but has just become an annoyance.

Dan UK, .50 caliber and other "anti-materiel rifles" or "hard target interdiction" rifles, are not special operations exclusive weapons, though they were at one time most often associated with them. Now they are in EOD units for stand-off disruption of unexploded ordnance as well as regular infantry battalions in the sniper sections of the scout/recce platoons (US Army/British Army and Royal Marines) or Scout-Sniper/Surveillance and Target Acquisition (STA) platoons (US Marines). They are issued to the sniper teams as the mission dictates.

Actually, the M40 is the Sniper Rifle for the USMC,so what do you mean, there is no M40 model in game...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M40_rifle

That above is it correct, that is in game?or is it just named wrong in game?

And the M95 has been adapted by the U.S. special Forces.I know some U.S. operatives in the Siberia area okay...but if you're asked, they're in Afgan!

Note:I'm taking the part about the U.S. operatives out tomorrow, due to that's classified...I think...

Don't use wikipedia as your only source. The M40-series is the US Marine Corps' sniper rifle, but once again it is not in-game. EA/DICE failed to do their research when making the game and placed the M24, the US Army's sniper weapon system, as the sniper's weapon in the USMC faction. Both the M40 and the M24 are based on the Remington Model 700, though.

Uhhhhhh yeah we do have the m40 in game. That or a rifle that looks and operates exactly like it and has the exact same designation because the foldier for it in the object_client is lable m40...

IIRC, USMC snipers have been faffing about with it since the 0.6 beta, man...
