Post by Hitperson »

For the M270 MLRS we need to have a toxic (fatal) exhaust frrom the fireing of the rockets that will kill people within a sertain range of the vehicle

Theory

Post by Sgt. Jarvis »

I have a theory that I can make a backblast effect, and make some of the effect sprites have a material that hurts infantry. That is, only if this is true, but was thinking about having that so that if you were behind a Panzerfaust or Bazooka that you would die. I can run some tests, but tied up at the moment.

That would be really interesting to see if possible, as with some of the recoiless AT weapons such as the LAW there is also a blackbast, and I cannot imagine standing behind a jet engine being too healthy either!

Yea backblast, even for tow missiles

now not toxic posionous gas, but backblast is very realistic, 90 degree spread for at least 45ft on a tow

And 30ft for a LAW, however, i think incorporating this ingame could be hard. That distance would ingame would be excessive!

Id like to see the same kind of thing if you stand infront or too the front/side of the end of a tank's barrel when it fires.

Those distances sound extrely long for the game.

OPeration Flashpoint had some really good MODs that did this. One was taht when a tank, apc, whatever got destroyed there would a alot of fire, secondary explosions.

I think this is possible. Personaly I would like to see destroyed tank saying for a long time and burning.

FH had really good destroyed vehicle models, they looked like they'd been taken out of action rather than totally blown up.

I don't know if it needs to do damage. But I'm sure an effect similar to a grenade going off or a tank firing could effect infantry around. But would it effect the person shooting? Or could it be directed to only effect people behind them?

Ya, we need new damage models that arn't so destroyed. DCR had really cool secondary explosion effects for the tanks when they went down. we neeed those too.

backblast would kickass. Its just so fucking funny in games like AA when the idiot is standing right behind you after you told him to move, and the back blast from your rpg or whatever just kills him instantly.... ROFL. I've actually seen a terrorist come around a corner and get the backblast from a freinldy, that was freakin hilarious.

Those are the real distances. For the game they would be converted to fit like every other effect.
No effect in the game can be truly realistic really because it would be no fun.

Artillery would simply wipe out everything on the map with a few strikes.
