Why no parachutes?
I've been playing this mod for a long time and I know the DEVs got rid of parachutes to keep players from base jumping but what I don't understand is why were parachutes done away with all together? Why hasn't a Airbone kit been added for the armies with aircraft? All it would require is to code the parachutes to have a hight limit or something so people cant use them to jump off buildings and such. I just think that parachute troops would be a nice thing to have especially on maps like Kashan Desert where deploying troops by ground can get dicey sometimes. I'm not making this a suggestion so don't say search, I just want some clarification as to why it was done away with all together.

well i think its mainly because of the factions that we have right now. USMC and Royal Marines are really not airborne troops. I dont see units para dropping from Black Hawks either. I guess what im tying to say here is that there is more of an emphasis on combining or tying the player down with the IFV's APC's to create that combined arms tactic feeling of warfare.
Plus, dont airborne troops follow different doctrine in warfare. I could see a map dedicated to asymmetric design with a para dropped unit vs a armored infantry unit.

Well, really the USMC would probably be with other branches on a map like Kashan Desert, because I might be wrong but the USMC doesn't really go solo when it comes to in-land operations and I also doubt a all USMC unit would have F-16s, M1A2s, and Apaches.....

One thing I just remembered for any of you guy who played Forgotten Hope for 1942, remember Foy where the commander could request a transport that would fly over and provide a spawn for a few seconds, didnt really work well because it basically flew across the map and if you werent dead you didnt get to drop. Wounder if it could be done where a C-130 (Static) spawned at a airfield and troops could request airborne kits and get in then it could be done like that one where it just flies across maybe if possible on a path decided by the commander and the troops could jump when they're over the target.

USMC is designed to be an independent fighting force with its own logistics, air, armor and infantry. They have M1A1s as their MBT, F18s and AV-8Bs as their fighters, AH-1Z and UH-1N/Y Hueys for attack helosSoulja wrote:Well, really the USMC would probably be with other branches on a map like Kashan Desert, because I might be wrong but the USMC doesn't really go solo when it comes to in-land operations and I also doubt a all USMC unit would have F-16s, M1A2s, and Apaches.....

101st has long been an Air Assault (Heliborne) Division.
The 82nd on the other hand is an Airborne (Parachute) Division but it would deploy from cargo planes such as the C17, C130, etc. Also it is part of the Army, not Air Force. The planes come from the Air Force.
