In the modern era any chemicals are not allowed. There is a code that all countrys use. Hence "Iraq was gassing civis US and allies stopped it"
And to the rank posts. It means nothing, just you post alot and are dedicated to PR not how good you are. I bet if you gave a monkey these forums he would have the highest post count ever.

Ive never played any of the original expansion packs but that is where the fisheye effect is from I think, tear gas from sf mod I think. So it would be perfectly suited.
I remember playing on some CSS servers and if you threw smoke it would start the terrorists choking and losing health. If they moved out of the smoke, their vision would return and they'd regain their health.
It was a great idea for those crappy siege type maps, you could actually get them to back off a bit

There is a significant difference between tear gas and mustard gas. Saddam was using mustard gas, tear gas is commonly applied in non-military crowd control situations.LtSoucy wrote:In the modern era any chemicals are not allowed. I certainly think its workable, just not that useful. It would really not give soldiers a new tool to work with, it would just be a less useful flash bang.

I support this idea as a complement to the civilian class that IMO should stay!
There's too few/no means to peacefully scatter civilians other than knife arresting wich is hard and somehow dumb. Crowdcontrol needs MP's, a MP class with pistol, club(tonfa), and teargas/flashbang launcher would be an excellent response to civilian treath in Al Basrah/Fallujah/Op Archer and so forth..
Why? Because with my clan we usually do a lot of scenarios and one of them is VCP/City peacekeeping in Al Basrah. The problem we have is that every time we need to control civilian crowds (3,4,7,10,20 of them) we have absolutely no means of mass control other than the knife(supposedly a club) that makes it end in a chiken'run fragfest or a KoreanConflictHorror 50. fragfest.
Plus, we don't know in RL who is an insurgent and who is not because they hide in population : We can't kill civies and must locate rebels, then we need more non-lethal means of control/peacekeeping.
But hey, it's just an idea!

MPs could replace the Special Forces on these maps imo. Pistol (or even smg), bangs, maybe gas and thats it. Nothing lethal besides the weapon for self defense. Would be much more useful than "regular" Spec Ops on these maps, and a less than lethal aspect wouldnt even sound so bad.
But probably thats not realistic enough.
