It worked great and the l33t h4xx0rzzzz weren't there since they didn't wanna bother with registering on the forums. It'd be great if there could be 3 servers or so like this. Passwords could be changed after a certain period, perhaps every week.
Tactical Gamer still hosts password nights on a regular basis. :)

Some basics as a commander. Designate squad X to defend an objective and designate squad Y to attack an objective. On top of that give the guys supplies and give the SL critical info on VOIP or ingame chat. Its really very simple.

Wanna go pro? Spawn a supply truck, build some bunkers and do some flanking maneuvers with your squads.

Personally I'm pretty happy as commander if 70% of the squads manage to keep to the basics. Unfortunately this doesn't happen a lot. Some squads always wanna go on a solo rampage mission, some SL doesn't answer the VOIP and so on. You all know this.

Please remember - I'm not a narcissistic psycho obsessed with power and control - I'm just a dude willing to try to co-ordinate the chaos on the battlefield!

Its a shitty job, but sometimes the situation is so grave that someone must take action.

The way it is now the commander get caught in the middle. For example last night I went commander on the T&T server, trying to make the best of it. luckily I had 2 or 3 squads who managed to agree with me on the main objectives and even a squad who accepted to stay and defend a objective! (amazing!)

But then all started to fall apart. Because of the lack if DISIPLINE. With some squads going solo as usual, I as commander, was getting serious heat from the co-operative SL's demanding that the other SL also followed their orders. I felt like Uriah the Hittite.(google that!)

Co-operative squads started to get restless and started to take "initiative" and left their objectives for a more rewarding career as a "super-haxor-1334-assault-suicide-squad" at the front line. With no one, or a least very few, on defense, we soon lost most of the objectives.

I disconnected, thinking, "those ******** doesn't deserve a commander and should go back to vanilla!" ( I was irritated, I admit that some of the players was actually trying to do some teamwork)

My complaining about the hardship as a commander is soon over but, I'll must point out one more fact.

When I issue a order, I do it with the best intension. like, well, how about winning the game? Then again I have no problems accepting a "no" to an order, but then you must tell me why and help me to re-think my orders.

My conclusion:
If you as squad leader manages to master the basics describes earlier and can give reasons for your denial to follow orders, we'll get along fine. If not, I'm not willing to be commander just to be pissed on by immature and vanilla-bf2 players.

See you on the battlefield!
