Why do the rifles without optics kick more?

Im semi auto, these weapons like the M16 have very little recoil and muzzle rise anyways. I never noticed much shooting through my ACOG, and I certainly didn't lose view of the target or have to correct my aim by any large amount after each shot.
Full auto is a different story. Generally speaking, with a real (5.56mm) assault rifle shooting at someone on full auto past 20m = fail, and even then semi auto is most likely superior. With an AKM it's worse yet, and with anything in .308, forget about it.
In-game, in my admittedly limited experience, I have had no issue whatsoever at close ranges with just looking down the sights/though the optic and popping 4 or 5 shots into them on semi real quick.
The one thing I do notice about the iron sights is that they appear rather small, especially the rear ghost ring on the M16's; this is probably because I'm used to shooting them with the nose-to-charging handle cheekweld.
