Who knows. I would like to think that in the BF2 world the leaders of these countries arent completely retarded and saw that a nuclear war has no winners so tried their hands in a conventional war.

Because then there wouldn't be a game. Or at least the game would be called "Fallout"

lol i think this is the real reason,

but also because i think perhaps these countries didnt want to occupy and inherit a nuclear wasteland, which wouldnt really do them much good anyway. thats part of the reason the nuetron bomb was invented. because instead of flattening an entire city, it just kills every living thing, then the invading army can occupy it and not have to concentrate so much on rebuilding.

china still lacks a bit in the ability to really deploy their nukes, russia is not part of the game - that`s why ;)

Why would they, PR is set now or near future. BF2 is set in who knows when. Lets just say this. After the nukes were dropped on the south pole the water rose an inch and new civl countries were formed(No more nukes, only JDAM's)

PR's storyline is good enough.

PR is supposed to be set in between 2010-2012.

At the end of the day, it's the politicians who order nukes to be used and the military with their hands on the keys.

Ask any soldier and they will tell you they never want to see them used. Especially not in a MAD situation. When it comes to the crunch, I wonder if those personnel with their hands on the keys will actually turn them or if they'll march into parliaments everywhere and take over for common sense

Keep in mind the suburbs of Chernobyl were uninhabitable for a decade. Basically, a nuclear war would be inconvenient because it would stop any military advance for years. Of course that would be good for the defenders, but not so great for whoever made the first strike.
