Phoenix may have been bad, but Hamyong is 100x worse!

Hamyong can ofcause be won by the US, it is hard since the us sniper rifles are "broken", but with teamplay each of the side placed CP's can be taken with an assault of 2 squads if the use smokegrenades and GL-smoke, it requieres work and is of cause not that well ballanced since the PLA has only to shoot down the hill, but hey, i do not know one battle in any war that was really fair, and since the US really need work, i would even prefer it about a few other maps which need less teamwork (e.g. Helmand, even so I like the map because of its design, but the gameplay isn't very tactical on in)
and as last point, it might not be in everyones favor, but i would prefer to choose by my self which map i want to play, so a map has to be really bad that i would vote for taking it out

Actually, the map is "spawn rape fest: me or you."
Until US captures the first 3 flags, they continue being nade spammed, spawn raped etc.
Once they secure the flags, they can build a bunker, spawn there and can harass the PLA, as they come down from the Bunker with suppressive fire and snipers. So basically revenge for the hilltop onslaught. The PLA gets killed, as they come out of the Bunker building and at the end, it turns into a entire US team watching two staircases from where the entire PLA team comes out.
If you want to be spawn raped, then this is the map for you.

To be honest, if the US spawn was pushed back another 2-300 meters and a bit more space between the bunkers this map would be aces. As it is with the main directly within 40mm range and allowing the PLA access to H/AT and L/AT it's a bit much. US use of H/AT, L/AT however would be highly realistic in assaulting prepared positions/bunkers and works well in game...before the current changes to the H/AT were made. Now it's near impossible to get into position and wait for the donut to settle before getting sniped.

Honestly I just don't think most players like losing. I loved hills, it was classic, it was truly challenging at the beginning, the forest area was awesome to both assault and defend.
I've noticed alot of whining about 'balance/fairness' lately, whether it be the G3's recoil or maps. I seem to remember a certain quote about "war isn't fair" and certain people using that in this forum alot. At what point was PR ever supposed to be 'fair'? Ok, understandably you want to have a good level of balance for gameplay's sake, but goddamit if you can't handle getting up that first assault on hills, you're just not playing right. It's supposed be murder, who cares if you get some deaths on your score? "oh noes, somebody might snort at my score for 1 round and not think im perfect!" big whoop. Once the US/GB had that first area done on Hills, the rest was piss easy. Very easy.
Phoenix on the other hand, wasn't unbalanced, it was just, well, **** to be honest. There was nothing particularly wrong with it, it was just overplayed and too vanilla.

Of course the US can win it, but that is not the point. Just because someone can win a map doesn't mean it is fun. Hills is a nade/spam fest and spawn rape for the US and if other maps were going to be taken out because they were too "vanilla", then Hills of Hamyong should of followed suit.Maxfragg wrote:Hamyong can ofcause be won by the US, it is hard since the us sniper rifles are "broken", but with teamplay each of the side placed CP's can be taken with an assault of 2 squads if the use smokegrenades and GL-smoke, it requieres work and is of cause not that well ballanced since the PLA has only to shoot down the hill, but hey, i do not know one battle in any war that was really fair, and since the US really need work, i would even prefer it about a few other maps which need less teamwork (e.g. Helmand, even so I like the map because of its design, but the gameplay isn't very tactical on in)

HoH encourages rushing because you stand no chance of moving, trying to spot, and waiting for your weapon to settle while and the Chinese in their defensive positions who already have perfect aim can just snipe and shoot you all day long. It also makes matters worse that there are no good places to place RPs.
The map is very repetitive too, which makes it even less fun.

Agreed... You can balance it out and I'll still call this the worse map in PR's history. I'd play Phoenix, Inishail, Steel Thunder, Airport, Zhanjing Security Area, Op. Compton, Op. Greasy Mullet, Strike at Karkand 2 and every other vanilla BF2 map over this anyday. This is the only map I almost always leave and look for a new server.00SoldierofFortune00 wrote:Of course the US can win it, but that is not the point. People talk about the U.S being at a disadvantage, well even if you do manage to take the hills, the roles reverse, and it becomes rape for the Chinese. Stand outside the bunker and keep lobbing grenades down there, you'll get get half-a-dozen kills with almost every one you toss.

I'm afraid you don't get the point. I don't give a lightest damn about my deaths number. This applies all the way till my spawntime starts to be like 50 seconds.icehollow wrote:Honestly I just don't think most players like losing. Since you brought that 'war isn't fair' argument, yes, war is not fair, but things have changed since 1943 and the Battle of Stalingrad. Unless the commanders are on crack or something, they no longer send their men towards certain death. Why ? It's obvious. Training, gear, weapons - all of this cost money. If I want to enjoy massacre I might as well go play CoD singleplayer and its famous Stalingrad level. Until then, please, don't tell me I'm playing the game wrong just because each time I move out I get my *** blow up by 3 grenades.
This is Project Reality. We have realistic equipment, realistic vehicles, realistic ballistic,... This map is like a slap to all of this.

You don't get it, the WHOLE map is rapage. No matter where you are, there is no place to hide from the spam of nades and bullets.Antonious_Bloc wrote:Like someone else said, if the US main was able to be moved back 300 meters without having to redo the entire map, this one would be aces.
It's a good map, and I'm sure it took a lot of work to make, the only problem is the spawn rapage in the beginning.

If you look at the map overhead its construction is lacking in reality detail eg:roads lead nowhere a train tunnel ends at very small shunting station? The US mains location doesn't make sense a few dirt hills and concrete walls and stairs...are the PLA supposed to be mining or growing rice to load onto that dodgy train depot?
If there were way more trees every where along the flanks and to the north and they negatated the grenade spamming it would make it a bit less spammy.
All in all it is a very tough map but I have rolled the PLA many times with the right squad on the 32 or 64 map but the 16p map is to constrictive.

the trains are for munitions for the arty bunkers. The road is up the hill to radio dugout.GruAncH wrote:If you look at the map overhead its construction is lacking in reality detail eg:roads lead nowhere a train tunnel ends at very small shunting station? Id rather have Op. Compton than HoH. at least that was a good size
