Alternate to the M16s

Post by Odct_Jolly »

I would like to have the options of using a C7A2 instead of an m16 in urban maps. The C7A2 (standard canadian weaopon based on the m16) is fully automatic and has an Elcan C79 3.4x power optical sight, IMO this would greatly help in FIBUA

Welcome to the forums, Jolly. You'll be happy to know that the C7 and C8 will be options in certain UK classes, but we're not using them for the US team. Check out our media gallery section, as it would be nice to have someone who has experience with the weapons give some feedback on the models. :)

There will be other sight options for the M16 and M4 eventually. :)

We're also familiar with FIBUA. Here in the states it's called MOUT (Military Operations on Urban Terrain), but in the UK and Canada FIBUA is used. :)

I guess you'll give them to the UK Spec Op guys? As I've heard about the SAS and Marines using them.

Correct. The SAS, Parachute Regiment / 16th Air Assault Brigade Pathfinders, Royal Marines Brigade Patrol Group and SBS (and possibly Fleet Protection Group, as well) all have used the M16/M4 and C7/C8 at one time or another. :)

Probably not until initial release, since that's when the UK forces will be in. :)

Carl Gustav the Submachine Gun? or the Carl Gustav Anti-Tank weapon? Either way they are both good... I had a lot of fun shooting the carl gustav sub machine gun.

Pretty sure both the 72 and Gustav have been replaced in the US military, or are being replaced.

Thought the Rangers still used the Carl Gustav for breeching. Plus I think I've seen blurbs somewhere about the M72 getting a redesigned warhead.

The Carl G is a recoilless anti-tank weapon, think of it as a big caliber rifle

The "Goose" is still in service with the 75th Ranger Regiment and other USSOCOM forces; some infantry officers have said they would like regular forces to get them, too. It's official designation is the M3 Ranger Anti-Armor Weapon System (RAAWS) or Multi-role Antipersonnel/Anti-Armor Weapon System (MAAWS). It is found in the weapons platoons of Ranger rifle companies, and they've been using it for quite a while; since the M67 90mm recoilless was retired in the mid-to-late 1980s.

As for the 66mm M72, it is making a comeback due to its weight and collapsibility as well as a redesigned warhead from Talley. A few have made it over to Iraq.

Well, the C7 actually does have a handle sight, it's the C7A1 variant that has the Elcan sight. Also, the C7A2 has the Elcan, along with a telescopic buttstock, also some of them also got some funky paintjobs ...

C7A2:

As for the C8, I'm not as sure.
