On taking out the explosive red sign out of game

Post by Saobh »

It just hit me, why the hell is there a glowing red sign above our teams planted explosives ? ok I know its EAs way to calm down inderect TK (which hasn't been realy effective has it).
I mean seriously, appart from looking at it real close i'm not shure you can tell if a mine/claymore/explosive bag is from your team or the other ones.

And even if it were from your team, a glowing red cross ? in a 'reality' sense you'd only know were (and if) explosives have been planted if you have been warned, on a map or by speach.

So please take this away, as it has no logic. and even more it would have the direct effect of having people watch out where they are going rather then race everywere knowing that the magic red sign will warn them reven before they see it.
So this goes back to the total immersion, were if you want to have information on wat is around you, you have to open your eyes and listen rather then have a magic Hud telling you everything.

and also, get rid of the TK message you get in those cases, if you got killed you weren't paying attention enough.

in REAL life, your team would be fully aware of any C4, claymore, and mines in the area, it would be plotted and marked. i dont the red sign is bad at all, its saved me on many occasions. Also when your an engineer taking up mines, how do you know whats the enemy ones and whats your own. Itll get confusing

Exactly it would be plotted on a MAP, if you want to know where they are no magic information in front of your eyes -> you have to look at your map.

and er engineers can pick up any mine (if my memory is good)

well can we have them shown on the mini map (or the main map when the mini map is removed.)

Well in fact I was thinking of a sort of automatic notation on the main map (as i'm for the suppression of the mini-map) when explosives are fixed , suggesting that you warn your team of your action.
But I dont know if its possible to code in (as its a new type of info to make apparent ) but probably the most complicated would be the fact of having that map notation disappear at the same time as its game world does.

I say take away the mini map, only give the 3d map to pilots and leave the main map and only notate hazards on that map not on the 3dmap.

So he's saying we aren't fully aware of claymores, mines, or C4?

Some people wonder if they have made a difference in this world. Marines don't have that problem

Agreed... too many punishing idiots around... they run on claymores even with red sign... think what would happend when they would be removed...
Total-punish-TK-mayhem.....
It can be smaller, it can be other sign... but some indicator must stay...
As long as i vote for 3D map to remove, minimap is not an option for me...
