Top Down Attack Mode?

Post by Mora »

Isn't the SRAW able to do a top down attack? Also attack helicopters should have that option because of the upcoming city maps with helicopters support, buildings might get in the way. The "Nuke Mod" has a top down system
as you can see in this video.
So it is possible to code.

Dont think this is the same one this one looks better and is not as buggy or glitchy and actually works much more in a real way.

Yeah well, they will be useful on attack choppers when the target is in a narrow street where you cant fire straight at. I think its a good add on for attack choppers.

It would be cool visually but it would be unrealistic if it could hit stuff not in the line of sight, it does use lasers that travel straight you know.

Is the top-down mode IRL due to their being less armor on the top side of armor?

That's true for the Javelin but the hellfires just arch up a bit to search for the laser.

In game its already like that for the chopper but only when you laser targeted your self , when you laser target the hostile by your self and shoot the missile , the rocket shoots straight out and comes right down

Not sure what you mean there.. Do you mean if you use the laser-target mode the missile will travel from top to down like i painted here:

no it wont, if you want to do that you will have to make if effected by negitive gravity, it will make it rise, so you would need to give it a tracking delay of 0.5-2sec then it would track and gravity wouldnt effect it but it would have to come down ontop of the tank.

Right so it can only be done when its locked on something. I still don't understand why we have no real fire and forget mode.. i mean in that google video you can see they lock on a tank. Why don't we have that in game? Because its overpowered? Then make the lock zone smaller so you really need to hold your cross on the target to acquire a lock. And also give it a realistic locktime as ive seen on that video it take about 3 to 5 seconds.

The only differences it takes is it needs to lockon, and to do that the pilot needs to hover just as if you use the laser-guided mode only shorter. Or the gunner will not be able to get a lock, ones he locked it he can fire and the missile does the rest. And the chopper can get away :) fire and forgot.

hellfires aren't laser guided... their radar guided. The only reason they arent in PR is because they would be to pwnage like killing every single thing on the battlefield without having to leave the base.

The hell are you talking about? Hellfire missiles aren't fire and forget unless you have something else laser targeting the target.

The hellfires the army uses now are radar-guided, the ones we use in pr are laser-guided. And what i said in my previous post is a old method too, as the google video is pretty old too.

So what's your point besides repeating people and answering your own question? xD
