No detonation of explosive launchers in close range

Post by Tacticsniper815 »

hey i was thinking it'd be realistic if when you shoot a rocket or a grenade launcher too close there wouldnt be any detonation

It would help to keep people from getting accidentally or incidentally tk'ed, but if you wanna try to justify how it would be realistic, it would be kinda hard, since something like that would require an RFID chip on every friendly soldier and vehicle and the rocket's warhead would have to be able to disarm itself after detecting the friendly IFF RFID chip...

I think BF2 added something like this in the 1.2 patch...

He means that the explosive has to travel a certain distance before arming, nothing to do with friendly soldiers.

I don't think he's talking about an IFF system. He was thinking about the range at which rockets and grenade launchers arm and detonate.

In the 1.2 tweaks i have seen these new lines.
On the AT mine:

Code: Select all

ObjectTemplate.detonation.allowFriendlyFireDetonation 1
On the Grenade launchers:

Code: Select all

ObjectTemplate.detonation.timeUntilCanDetonate 0.3
So we could probably have Intelligent Friendly Safe (IFS) missiles, mines, whatever. Probably don't want to.

On missiles that do have an arming distance, the second line could be used.

This would help, I remember when I forsaked my squad because I killed myself and tk'd my squad leader by firing an at rocket through a window(I guess I didn't wait to aim so it didn't matter where my sight was) killing us both at our last flag.
