Does the ammo bag give too much ammo?

Post by Noetheinner »

I was thinking, I think the ammo bag is still a bit too unrealistic. I mean this on guy who has the MG carries a buttload of extra ammo. That's not what I have a problem with. It's the extra SMAW rockets, grenades, claymores, and AT mines that I do have a problem with. Giving out extra small arms rounds seems fine, but the amount of extra stuff seems a bit too much.

I know it's been said before somewhere, but to resupply on the specalized stuff, the guys should have to go to a sort of ammo locker to get what then need.

Just a thought. I wonder how it would do for the balance though.

I've though about this a bit. I think you're right, and it's unrealistic in a lot of ways, but how else would we resupply the anti-tank/engineer kits?

Is there a way to put in ammo lockers? Like a resupply crate that is static, never runs out of ammo, and looks a bit different? I mean the AT and enginner are more defensive than offensive right?

It would be good if you need a resupply guy to be in a vehicle to give out the specialist ammo. That's someone elses idea, I think it was mentioned in another thread, but having the idea and the game engine being able to do it are too different things :)

could make APC/Jeeps have extra ammo for lets say engineer and AT
so if you enter any of these viechles for about 1 min you get fully loaded

that or let your commander send for resupply boxes

Be nice if you have to called in supplies and they were dropped by a supply plane (which could be shot down).

We need Supply trucks, ala Joint Ops. And make the respawn time so long that you have to protect it.

Infact we just need some 6ton trucks to transport large amounts of troops :D

^^ Would be nice yeah, problem is unlike Planetside and the AMS you can't cloak it - would be nice to put out some camo though.

I think it is good the way it is now because if you were away from the others and secretly attacking a control point, you wouldn't have any tanks or places to be resupplied from and supply drops would alert the enemy to your position.

I don't think this should be changed since it would sacrafice realism for the arcade gameplay and take away something from the good support players.
Supply box is also too slow as well and can easily get blown up along with if you even have a commander to drop one.

I think it is fine the way it is. I think it realy is the best solution. If anything were going to change I would ask for kit restrictions. Like only two support per side.

2/32 per side? Eh. Too low.

why not just make it so it takes 2 ammo bags to replenish one rocket? or make it so the ammo uhhh thing takes longer to reload, that way if your say assualt and AT guy are out of ammo, you have to make a wise choice as to who to give the ammo to.

Or limit the number of ammo bags? I still like just moving the ammo to a differant class. Like engineer, they never burn through ammo quickly, and limit it to 4 AT mines being placed by a single engineer.

If the infantry was with the armor getting fired upon or they had an engineer, they wouldn't have this problem. Taking the resupply away takes away from the AT class and adds too much help to the armor class which doesn't need to be anymore powerful as it is.

obviously the guy that suggested just putting in ammo crates/lockers doesnt remember or never played vietnam and 1942 - people would just hide by the damn health/ammo crates and double or triple their life expectancy and made it easier for em to camp

I agree, many mods have tried to be the most realistic one but they always end up sacrifising gameplay for realism which is a shame tbh. PRMM is already realistic as it is. If something has to be changed I'd say make the support guy carry less ammo; ie let it take longer time for him to "reload" his ammo packs so he can't resupply 10 guys in a few seconds.

I know i already posted on this, but forgot to give my opinion on the original issue of taking ammo bags out entirely

I say hell no

1) if you think about it, not every guy (or even every other guy) running around is a machine gunner, and even the ones that are often enough dont toss out ammo bags, so why punish people that need the ammo (usually for good reason - they've been killing people) when you're lucky to even get an ammo bag to replenish your ammo

2) at most cut down the ammo bags to 2 or 3 - if a guy is machine gunning and tossing down ammo bags for himself every now and then, all he needs is one, so unless you take bags out completely, that aint going away

I think, with new large maps (like Road to Kyongan Ni) Suppy Trucks would work GREAT!

Also, read beta's thread on character classes for an idea of how to supply other characters.
