But since the US carrier hasn't been redone yet AFAIK, we'd have to use the current carrier as a placeholder.
Would be great however just for a change of pace.
Isn't the hms. Ocean part of a multinational fleet..
I thought I heard something of dutch marines/navy cooperating on/with the hms. ocean..
anyway,.. if so.. It could be used for other (new) factions as well.
Would be worth the work IMO.

I rechecked the facts and figures page of the Ocean, and you were right that no Merlins were stationed on board. I think the ones I've seen were on temporary assignment.

because a british vs US carrier battle whilst sounding pretty fun, would be a tad bit unlikely
Actually, the PLAN have purchased a Russian carrier, so there's every reason why they'd have access to one. Just no-one in the team is about to create one for them in-game.
Having the Essex off-shore wouldn't be too unfeasible (as the Ocean) supporting shore-based vehicles, I guess.

Welcome to the website of the Fleet Flagship, HMS Ark Royal. I hope you will find the web pages informative and that you are able to learn more about the Ship, her people and her activities of interest. Please have a good look round our site and let us know if there is anything else you would like to see or want to find out and we will try to help.
This is the fifth vessel to bear the proud name. Ark Royal was built by Swan Hunters Ship Builders' yard at Wallsend in December 1978 and launched by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. HMS Ark Royal was accepted into service on 1 July 1985.
HMS Ark Royal is larger than her 2 sisters, Invincible and Illustrious, at 210 metres (683 feet) long. She has a maximum beam of 36 metres (117 feet) and a displacement of 20,000 tonnes.
4 Olympus gas turbine engines (like Concorde's) propel the ship, which give a maximum speed in excess of 30 knots. A steeper ski jump than in the other ships of this class is fitted at the forward end of the flight deck.
Dutch Royal Marines and UK Royal Marines train together as far as i know for the UK/NL Landing Force, we have 2 LPD's (Landing Platform Dock) atm and are going to build a JSS (Joint Support Ship) soon.
I have a model ready for the Landing Ship the Rotterdam Class Johan de Wit that needs to some touching up and of course UV mapping, skinning and coding.
And a finished model of a LCU (Landing Craft Utility)

Secondly the UK Marines operate from Amphibious Assualt Warships, so model either the HMS Ocean as Rudd suggested or HMS Albion or Bulwhark. Then it's game on
I'm in the British Merchant Navy, and i'm pretty sure the RFA landing ships have been left out too...
RFA Largs Bay and Mounts Bay
If you want an British aircraft carrier, maybe go for the CVF so you don't go out of date soon. Although it's pretty big compared to the invincible class carriers, so less fun for landing!

Well, I'd like to see any or all of the amphibious ships or carriers for other factions in the final version, seems like a large part of the community does too.
For some good info on Ocean and the biggest opposed British amphibious assualt since D-Day check out the book Armed Assault by James Newton. That is where my ideas for the Al Faw map have come from. Got some nice pics of Ocean in it too.
