Re: Idea for airtransport a vehicle
Something similar was already suggested, but anyway, your idea sounds very hard to do with the BF2 engine and it would look wierd. A car that sundely disappears in a helicopter and appears magicly after the heli lands... Sorry, but IMO it is not a good idea.

You can not drive any vehicle into a chopper in PR because of the limits of the BF2 engine, but the idea making the car disappear and reappear like a supply create sounds interesting, but i dont know if its possible

Well you can drive a car into the chopper. But you can not move with it, it will do damage to both the chopper and the car. And it looks really weird.

Having cars dropped like bombs or supply crates is possible. A good example is the Battleship mod. One of the ships can "launch" planes this way.

some of the modders seemed enthusiastic about this idea last time it came up, so I think its worth testing- if it can be done ofc.=Romagnolo= wrote:Something similar was already suggested, but anyway, your idea sounds very hard to do with the BF2 engine and it would look wierd. Small quote from Rhino in Hfett's thread regarding same suggestion last month:Dr2B Rudd wrote:some of the modders seemed enthusiastic about this idea last time it came up, so I think its worth testing- if it can be done ofc.

Re: Idea for airtransport a vehicle
I came up with an idea based on this involving the vehcile acting as a weapon, and it being fired like a missile.
If you notice, when a missile is fired, one of the missile on the models disappears i believe. Thus, a model with, say a landing craft with a humvee/landrover/whatever is made, which can be fired. The firing removes the model land rover (as per the missiles) and replaces it istantaneously with a 'real' vehicle. This would be more of an issue with the chopper, as fixing it (if its possible on any vehicle) wouldn't really work for choppers.
I orginally thought of this for landing craft when it was mentioned, it would have to made so that when the ramp is down the landing craft is prevented from moving to stop collision isues that occur between the two moving vehciles.
I've been busy with finals so I've not had a chance to post it up well enough to explain. Think you can get the gist of it from what I've written. Thought it may be a novel approach to the problem, never seen it before, but you never know what the devs have tried.

Re: Idea for airtransport a vehicle
EDIT:
This couldn't be used for making current vehciles disappear. I figured the 'weapon' could have ammo with a max ammo count of 1 which would have to be 'reloaded' at the carrier (as i said, this was originally a landing craft based idea) over a long period of time. As there are no land spawns of vehicles usually for the assaulting forces there wouldn't be too many vehciles if the rearm time was long enough.
Er dunno why that came out as a new post, could have sworn i hit edit.

We don't yet have a helicopter that can carry vehicles inside it... Give it time tho.

Re: Idea for airtransport a vehicle
I think there are some issues with that being hard coded, in other words, allowing something like a sling to be deployed under the Helicopter fuselage, the DEV's would have to mess with the BF2 engine code which can not be done, thus the term "Hardcoded"
