I would also like to see some other support options available every 20 min or so. As long as you need a SL to request it and a commander to accept it im happy :D

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

there are not impossible, infact the Devs may include mortars when they are able to implement them in a way that they are happy with (realistic).

Where did you hear that? Mortars have been in the works for some time now.

Anyway, love the idea, twenty minute recharge time seems to work, but it'll need to be tested some for the right balance. Can the planes be shot down on the way in or are they invulnerable or just appear?

They should be invulnerable, it's a special ability after all. I mean how lame would it be to wait 20 minutes, call in an air-strike when needed, just to have an enemy pilot fall in behind the planes and shoot all three down because they fly in a straight line?

THis wouldnt be for maps with jets since you actually can get airstrikes on quinling and kashan. That is how I see it atleast.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

Now that you mention WiC, I'd love to see a bomb like the LGB in there :p

I think any World in Conflict tactical aid would be a great addition (Except the tactical nuke for obvious reasons).

Here's a list of them if you want to check them out.

'[R-MOD wrote:Masaq;706246']You guys know that a JDAM is just a GPS-guided bomb, and can be dropped from pretty much any fighter/attack aircraft in the NATO inventory? And that both the PLA and Russia have their own guided bombs, providing the MEC with a similiar capability in-game?

The JDAM is nothing exotic or fancy :)

But on-topic, a smaller version for more regular airstrikes might be interesting on some maps.
Like Al-basrah :) always wanted to see a JDAM fall there in middle of town

I have to agree with the OP. while the JDAM is a great peice of weaponry to use, it has more bark than bite. It takes about 30 seconds for the smoke to disappear but has the explosion radius of a small hand grenade. I remember playing Qwai last night, and we had called a JDAM in on a tank + apc, and both just rolled out unscathed.

Something like seeing maybe 2 small LGB explosions (straight off of an a-10 for example) go off on an CAS marker would be something more realistic. maybe have that at 20-25 minute intervals and I dont think that would necessarily be too overpowering.

Heres another suggestion. People might thing that this would be too much. Just imagine Kashan, seeing air strikes go off all the time. What if we made it so you could not use an Air Strike from the Commander if the runway was blown up, or the command post was destoryed. This way there would be no way that the CAS planes (the imaginary ones) could get off the ground, or the commander relay orders through to the pilots (via the command post).

Something though should be added to augment the JDAM function. Something with a lesser visual effect but the explosion of a unguided bombs off a plane would be probably something close to reality that will give squads another tool in their arsenal to use at the clutch moments.

I believe that com set airstrikes would be taken away on maps already with jets, sinc eyou already can make airstrikes with more coordination.
