hop in the copilot seat - use the W and S keys to raise and lower the back ramp.

Co-pilot controls it with up/down arrow keys if I remember correctly. Haven't played in six months due to being in army.
EDIT: Looks like I remembered wrong. Or has it been changed?

While in the passenger seat you hit "s" but you better raise it before take off with "w" or youll really piss off the pilot and your team!!

I dont understand why leaving the door open would be a problem, its how it supposed to be used. Ideally it should have a 50 cal on the ramp

The ramp extends to the same level as the undercarriage (obviously - otherwise you wouldn't be able to run/drive up it).Sabre_tooth_tigger wrote:I dont understand why leaving the door open would be a problem, its how it supposed to be used. Ideally it should have a 50 cal on the ramp
What that means in practical terms is that it's often very hard for the pilot to judge what his tailgate is hitting - making it very easy for him to hit the ramp on something as he lands on uneven terrain, tipping the Merlin over and killing everyone inside.
In short = ramp open when picking people up/droping off on flat terrain, closed at all other times.

Its also great for dropping people of buildings actually. Kinda hard to guess where the ramp is at times tho.'[R-DEV wrote:Masaq;768410']The ramp extends to the same level as the undercarriage (obviously - otherwise you wouldn't be able to run/drive up it).

Never argue with an idiot, he will just drag you down to his level and beat you by experience

I must land nose first or something then because its no different to me when landing the merlin whether its open or not but I'll have to test that one out

it extends the footprint of the heli so if you dont know about it and land in front of a berm you could crash.Sabre_tooth_tigger wrote:I must land nose first or something then because its no different to me when landing the merlin whether its open or not but I'll have to test that one out![]()

OOH!! you can also open the ramp, then have a spec ops guy throw a hook out, and have everyone slide out if the area youre trying to deploy too is too small or uneven to land on.

Not true, it'll work a lot faster if you got a group of people to practice it non stop! In other word's it's possible.

Well.... it could be Needed. If the merlin was on OGT, have a spec ops in the back, grapple hook the people inside into the trees, that way you dont have to land.

Youll be one hell of a target though, hovering there in the air while everyone gets out

Re: Merlin back door...
back door is kinda useless really, most pilots get it stuck in the ground and crash when they overcompensate for it.
It looks great on a video though

Re: Merlin back door...
who said you would do it near the chinese? do it a little north of Chinese main, or South East Corner below trenches.... doesnt have to be close to the action. You hump the rest of it out on foot.
and yes.. the back door is still pretty useless albeit does boost the cool factor of the merlin.
