Enemy Spotted!
While its good how you can spot enemies, i think it wud be better if you couldnt see thier movement on the minimap even after you cant physically see them. It would be more realistic if once you have spotted someone, thesymbol on the minimap doesnt move??

I was thinking of this some time ago, and I agree with you, it would be much better. Maybe we could take away even the auto-identification of the spotted threat, having you to right click on the T menu and choose the correct class. This would give a chance to increase the auto 30 sec block limit and we'd have this less "exploited" (spamming it on a whole area just to see where the enemies are hiding). Spotting anything without choosing a class would leave the red question mark.

I must admit that i spam spotted in vanilla, and found i could locate troops i couldnt physically see.Neuromante wrote:I was thinking of this some time ago, and I agree with you, it would be much better. I wanted to suggest the same thing when I searched the forums. IMO, auto-identification is far from reality because you continue to see ennemys movements on mini-map even if you have lost visual contact. BTW, you can anticipate your target movements in an "unfair" way especially in CQB situations where red dots on mini-map are more important than the rest of your screen.Neuromante wrote:I was thinking of this some time ago, and I agree with you, it would be much better. As this suggestion is more than 1 year old, I would like to know if it could be possible to implement this because the gameplay has changed a little(!) since this suggestion.
PS : sorry for my coarse english but I can't do better...

I actually, wouldn't like a change to the spotted system, cause sometimes the game just craps out and doesn't work properly. I can be standing watching guy pinging off shots from a ledge, or a tank on the other side of a fence, or whatever, and the game just refuses spot the damn thing cause it's incompetent at registering that you can see the enemy unit even if there is a knee high obstacle between you.

Oh, yea, and then people would say "enemy tank spoted" when seeing a grunt...Neuromante wrote:Maybe we could take away even the auto-identification of the spotted threat, having you to right click on the T menu and choose the correct class.
Plus, when you spot, you dont think about, what you are seeing, you just say "enemy troops/vehicle identified"...
But I do agree on the moving red dots...

But how would I know when my IED target is across the bridge???
Also, what I really hate are the spotting "dead-zones" that seem to be all over the damn place.

For me the solution would be that you can "miss" your spot 3 times before you get radio blocked for 30sec, but if you actually spot an enemy you can spot as much different enemys as you like. So there won't be as much "?" marks on the screen, making comunication easier too.

This problem only occurs when you're using the auto-identification spotted threat system. "Manual" spotting is far more efficient.bobfish wrote:I actually, wouldn't like a change to the spotted system, cause sometimes the game just craps out and doesn't work properly. Currently, spotting is far too easy regarding all the information it provides to your team. It will help your mates to identify the danger but it's also used to find snipers location when they are well hidden, to confirm if the soldier in front of you is really an enemy, and for many other things.Outlawz wrote:Plus, when you spot, you dont think about, what you are seeing, you just say "enemy troops/vehicle identified"...
"Manual spotting" will require more time and will encourage player to communicate (if you can't spot safely). IMO, It will slow down a little bit the gameplay in a good way and will convert Rambo attitudes into suicidal attitudes.
It will be harder but you can ask your mates, can't you ?JP*wasteland.soldier wrote:But how would I know when my IED target is across the bridge???
Although you will reduce the chat spam, you will still be able to see red dots and vehicles moving (such as the location where a chopper lands his passengers) on your mini-map. Spam chat is something annoying but it's not the principal aim of my request. IMO, having all these red dots provide you a good knowledge of enemy forces and tend to encourage players to shoot at the red dots without thinking. For example, when I play H-AT, I often commit suicidal attacks on APCs because I know perfectly their location and I'm pretty sure to have the time to aim and fire before getting killed. It won't be the same if I don't know the perfect location of my target.ErusF wrote:For me the solution would be that you can "miss" your spot 3 times before you get radio blocked for 30sec, but if you actually spot an enemy you can spot as much different enemys as you like. So, you're just using "auto-spot" to confirm that the guy you see is not a friend. IMO, you should be able to spot an enemy only if you're sure he's one.VipersGhost wrote:Well if we change this, then we need to adjust the uniforms on china/US maps. They looks damn near identical at 100yrds
