I personally took out several BTR90s with a LAV25 before, mostly on Jabal, I even had a round where I took out 3 BTR90s with the Linebacker's HEAT shells on Kashan and ended the round 30ish - 0.H3eadshot wrote: Just no. Get any crew you want, BTR would rip them. Even a solo BTR can beat an LAV in its sleep if the LAV don't have an engineer.

No, BTR still wins even when LAV is shooting at BTR *** and BTR at front.NickO wrote:Hardly.
Any good driver will flank that BTR and own it up its *** (yes right up the ***).
I challenge you guys to a 1v2

I think the LAV-25 makes up for it's smaller size and profile as compared to the BTR-90, which looks huge.

Feeling suicidal?
How do you suppose this can work in any event? We're not talking about
lining up in front of each other, counting 1,2,3 go and start firing.
That's the only way you can win 1 VS 2 against Nick0/Outlawz

APC's in Muttrah or anywhere else aren't designed to go one on one. And personally i like the assymetric vehicles as we have them. I would personally like more.
i.e. CH2 with alightly better armour, ( er and better everything)
Abrams slightly better mobility, T90 better firepower perhaps. (no this isn't a versus thread, please don't make it one)
The biggest enemy of APC here or anywhere else are in no particular order.
Airpower, Heavy Anti Tank weapons, Mines, Tanks.
golden rule for APCS is use the nice ammo to supply the HAT, and have your APC concentrate on its primary role, safe transportation in the face of heavy calibre machine gun and rifle fire.
The APC's in PR have an IFV role to play sometimes but getting another squad supporting you transported safely into position is a lot more useful than the enemy team -knowing- they have taken out your APC and they won't see another one for a while.

For a second I imagined a bunch of APCs, all of them rolling slowly, majestically through the landscape, turrets constantly firing at each other, like some sort of a WWII battleship.

More like a WWI battleship, the original concept for a tank was a "Land Ship" and the initial project was setup by the Royal Navy.

At the end of the day it should be a case of who shoots (or should I say hits) first. Whether it be 25mm or 30mm, both hulls are likely to be penetrated with single hits. The M242 cannon on the LAV-25 probably can use the M919 depleted uranium rounds that the Bradley used during the Gulf war. I've heard that Bradley's were taking out T-72 tanks with it.

They also have the cobra, which when used correctly, is god of the battlefield (think of having a mostly blind guy with a huge rocket launcher as your ally, and all you have to do is aim at a spot and fire a tracer or two).[R-CON]Mescaldrav wrote:nooooo leave it alone Masaq!!!! Stop BALANCING!!!!!
Asymetric warfare rocks and its why the americans have 2 apcs on Jabal/Muttrah. If they both gang up on the BTR they can beat it easily. And besides, I like the way the MEC have something big and scary over the Americans for once. The Americans already have all the cool toys on maps where this beast lives, don't nerf the one thing thats a serious thorn in their side.....
