The M4 is single shot and burst only, while the M4A1, issued only to US special operations forces, is single shot and unrestricted full-auto.JTF2-Machina wrote:2 things I'm curious about, is why do the soldier/infantry M4's not have auto, and have a 3 round burst?

1: Eddie got that one
2: Its so they focus on the class they play (engie = repair, medic = heal) and not run and gun.
3: I had a link to all the charts, i can't find it. Maybe in the guide.

Medic's shouldn't be doing this...JTF2-Machina wrote:they are still going to fire when no one to heal, nothing to repair, etc...
When I'm medic and my squad is not under fire and there are no targets to shoot at, I'm taking cover behind them. As a medic, you shouldn't be actively looking for targets to shoot at, the rifle you have is for defence. At most, you should be on the look out for the enemy with binocs for long range etc... but when you do spot one, tell your squad and find cover. There's nothing worse than the medic being on point, getting shot at first. Medic is a defensive role, remember that.
Realism? Try a google image search, that's how they've always looked to me. It may be something to do with the center of gravity, angling the handle away from the heat, I dunno.JTF2-Machina wrote:One last thing is the barrel handle on the M249 is bent upwards...is there a reason for that?

Project Reality, (at lest this is what I read around hereJTF2-Machina wrote: Number 2 is why do engineers or medics get ironsights? If its to make them less effective or so everyone wont just go medic, you can limit one per squad, or increase their deviation on firing or something...I can guarantee if a medic or engineer went out in a combat situation, they would be given any kind of gun they wanted, just like infantry (atleast for the US or brits).
Lastly is how does the kit allotment work? How many M249's are allowed per team, how many marksman, etc...Reason I ask is because when trying to get a M249, it says there are none left, yet no one in my squad is using one. The minimi for any force is usually the main infantry/section/squad firepower...it is as effective as like 3 or 4 assault rifles. In Canada there are two C9 (m249's) per section (8 people), I'm assuming since the US call it the SAW (squad automatic weapon) that there should be one per squad.
So, the medic in particular- Self healing warrior with ACOG would generally make him a lone wolf and overpowered. (as CQB usually results in critically wounded state for at one of the combatants, where as long range can result in less serious injuries) on the engineer front you have a point. but TBH, with the scope in time, some ironsights/m68s are pretty useful.
there are a max number of each kit for the team, if your squad haven't picked one up, but 2 other squads have been hogging....then they've screwed you over pretty much.

Check out the Kit Limiting section of the guide to see how kit limiting numbers work.

Re: 3round burst on M4, Iron sights and kit allotment
I have no problem with shooting at people when I'm medic. Medics' guns still shoot bullets. At short rangers, iron sights work pretty well and allow you to shoot to kill. At longer ranges, you can still aim at the enemy and fire for suppression. As a medic I frequently participate in firefights if there's nobody who requires medical attention at the moment.
Only thing I would change is give every faction's medic a red-dot sight equivalent to the M68.

I dont think a red dot is usual with the G3 for example, dont even know if there is any red dot for the L85. I'm fine with ironsights, some are quite good actually.

AFAIK no iron sights are fitted to L85s, however recently and for the future, an EOtech looks like its being fitted to the UGLs as aimers.

Iron sights are fitted to L85's designed for CQB.
(Cadets get them
) And I know for a fact that in the navy, they never have scopes, they use iron sights for room clearance below deck.
