Can someone explain me something with the weapon tweak files? I wanted to understand how do the BF guns work, so i studied these files a bit. Some lines are easy to understand, some I figured out with testing but some things -not surprisingly

Weapon tweak files
Hi all!
Can someone explain me something with the weapon tweak files? I wanted to understand how do the BF guns work, so i studied these files a bit. Some lines are easy to understand, some I figured out with testing but some things -not surprisingly
- i couldnt find out what mean. So i would thank if someone would write a post about which variables in the text have effect on the guns performance and what do they mean/change exactly. I have searched the web but i havent found anything yet, but if there is already something about this just link it here plz. [Im no modder of course just a curious player

Re: Weapon tweak files
Watch out if you're using that - it's from BF1942/vietnam so not everything works exactly the same way, many things in there don't exist in BF2, and it's by no means complete. But on the whole it's a good reference for the more common commands.
The best way is just to change stuff and see for yourself what it does in game. If you have questions about specific commands feel free to ask, but a full list of explanations every possible useful command would be stupidly long.

Also have a lookout for CommandDescriptions.xls in C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\bf2editor\Help. I believe you have to have the editor installed though.

Re: Weapon tweak files
Thanks for the link! Looks good.
I will be careful, although i dont plan to mod a lot, i just wanna have a better view on the guns, cause in vBF they usually have very funny properties [eg.: beretta 92 more accurate than g3
I did understand that there were lots of commands in a game I just wanted the most important for the average player, like deviation, recoil, zoom, range, damage. And like i said, i tried them in game with changed values, and a few of these basic commands i have figured out this way, but eg. when i changed the numbers in the setMiscDev line i didnt notice any difference in game. But now i see on MDT its for jumping, so not a surprise it has no effect in 1.41
Thanks again!

hmm...scanned through the CommandDescriptions.xls file in bfeditor/help and noticed the command on row 278: "ObjectTemplate.AmmoType" Normally 1
Anyone know what that thing acctually does?

It's just to define the different types off ammo... most infantery ammo is #1 tank ammo is something else helo ammo is something else forget what they are for now.akatabrask wrote:hmm...scanned through the CommandDescriptions.xls file in bfeditor/help and noticed the command on row 278: "ObjectTemplate.AmmoType" Normally 1

So most of the ammo from the ammobag will be #1 for example.
