More Servers Need to Run Operation Archer
IMO, it is 10x better than Basrah cus you get a better variety of terrain, but no servers play it that often. Wasn't the server crashes and CTD fixed in this version as well? Haven't witnessed them when I have played it though. Underrated map.

I love it also, especially that mountain top bunker (not the tallest one, the other one)
but iirc it empties the server

Re: More Servers Need to Run Operation Archer
i couldnt agree more, op archer is hardly ever played and thats too bad. i dont get why it empties the servers, are people really that unaccustomed to having to adapt to a different playing style?

It sucks for the insurgents. The Americans can see you through the mountain/hilltops because of the draw distance glitch.

Draw distance glitch? You mean scopes as opposed to iron sights, and the fact that a few ins. have binos. . .

-All INS maps do that. Then they get swamped with people who actually want to play INS but since they join mid-game it becomes a cluster-f*** and then it switches to an AAS map afterwards and everyone leaves again. Mixing completely different game modes on a server has always and will always be a bad idea.Dr2B Rudd wrote:but iirc it empties the server
-And Op Archer is extremely dull, especially for Ins. It just feels so barren and pointless when you play that map.

No, he means the glitch where you appear to hover above the crest of a mountain at range, when in fact you are behind it, allowing you to be seen (but not hit) while you can only see the dirt in front of your face.jOHNNYdOUBE wrote:Draw distance glitch? Very fun map when you're with a good squad, goes for both USMC and INS.
Pity that it's not on more.

Not a glitch, anti aliasing. if its not on in your options enemies will appear to float above the hilltops. Its down to graphics cards and graphics settings. If yours are low then you will see enemies more clearly.IAJTHOMAS wrote:No, he means the glitch where you appear to hover above the crest of a mountain at range, when in fact you are behind it, allowing you to be seen (but not hit) while you can only see the dirt in front of your face.

Re: More Servers Need to Run Operation Archer
Well, to be fun for ins you really need a good team FROM THE START.
being in a good squad is also good but most times not enough for a ins team. as you will be the only ones defending caches or whatever.

Re: More Servers Need to Run Operation Archer
I love the map, but i just can't stand being insurgents on it as if a cache spawns outside of the town 7/10 the USMC get there first and the insurgents get there just in time to shoot at them as they leave. The map needs some more cars about imo, some perm spawns like Korengal wouldn't hurt either.
.
Ditto Rudd, once had a huey land a the edge of town and had it fill with the nearest guys, regardless of squads, and charge the mountain south of the town as the insurgents raced to defend their cache. The guys beat them. JustDr2B Rudd wrote:also, i've had my best commanding experiences on Archer, gotta keep the hueys coordinated

Re: More Servers Need to Run Operation Archer
Operation Archer is #3 for me in the INS maps, it's AWESOME for ambushing on roads.
However, it's huge, the US has atleast 1 Huey which means a good pilot can beat the INS to new caches easily, and there's not enough cars.
Improvements. More cars, and Civi cars in general need to take less terrain damage just cause the roads are so bumpy.
A few random spawns like korengal, honestly, every INS map could benefit from a atleast 10 on the map.

Everyone wants to easily kill their opponent but nobody wants to be the one easily killed. That line of thinking escalates weaponry to the point where practically every soldier has a shoulder-mounted nuke launcher that when fired, automatically displays the text "pwnt".- [R-CON]Wolfe

Re: More Servers Need to Run Operation Archer
imo the problem is that insurgent vehicles all spawn on the roads coming in from the map, so either you don't know if there is a vehicle there - you spawn and there isn't its either a wair, or long walk - or it takes time to get the vehicles down.
random spawns would be excellent, especially in the fortified areas, or the basements (we need more of those btw on most maps)
I'd not recommend a increased total number of technicals as the hueys get pwned by 50cals.
with that, I think it would be sorted

Hmm, [45-Comm] have only INS maps, sometimes the server is down because of Voip problems, but everytime its up it is following the map rotasion. And if the server is on Operation Archer people wont join, it sucks to play it when there is few players. So put it on Ramiel first, then swich to Archer when its full

I'm running the game on the highest possible settings for everything. Including anti-aliasing. I can still see 'em hover.Psykogundam wrote:Not a glitch, anti aliasing. if its not on in your options enemies will appear to float above the hilltops. Its the same reason you sometimes see floating vegetation and morphing terrain as you approach it - same problem can be seen on Kashan.Psykogundam wrote:Not a glitch, anti aliasing. if its not on in your options enemies will appear to float above the hilltops. Not much can be done about it apart from having shallow curves on the terrain.
