But seriously, iirc the reason it isn´t done is because it creates alot of lag.

Can't the mesh of the origional chopper just be bulked out a bit
methinks you don't wanna let go of your street level flying alex

No I would like it, but I bet people wouldn´t be so happy if I suggested realistic hellfires.

Didn't the vanilla choppers have collision meshes on the rotor blades? I vaguely recall sticking C4 to the rotor blades of a blackhawk...

I think they do, but only when not rotating.daranz wrote:Didn't the vanilla choppers have collision meshes on the rotor blades? I vaguely recall sticking C4 to the rotor blades of a blackhawk...

Re: Collision meshes for rotors
I know this is old, but I just wanted to hear the DEVs input on this, is it simply a lag thing? How come it can't just be part of the mesh like when it's landed, even if it were a simple line 90 degrees to the choppers shape then it's serve the same purpose as having a circle pretty much? I can imagine it's massively impossible otherwise it would be in game, never mind being in game then been taken out again, it'd just be nice to know what the deal is exactly.

Hah ha

Also, without fast ropes it would absolutely cripple teams that rely on helcopter insertions on urban maps (and others with dense terrain)
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

I see your point.[R-MOD]Bob_Marley wrote:Also, without fast ropes it would absolutely cripple teams that rely on helcopter insertions on urban maps (and others with dense terrain)
But in all honesty, even with the loss of fast ropes I would much rather see infantry inserted into an urban area with Little Birds. Trying to do so with a Blackhawk is just... Unsavory.
I'd much rather see Blackhawks inserting people in areas that would allow a helicopter of it's size to land properly. Afterall, it's just more realistic. Like also how a Merlin should be dropping off troops in the grassy open fields of Al-Basrah because you know there is plenty of room and they're flat... Not down one of the "streetlight-pole-electrical-wire-infested" main roads.
Additonally, I still wish there was collision boxes on helicopters. I would now have a good excuse not to land ignorant SL's in city areas. So I wouldn't have to spend the next 5 minutes explaining about the threat posed by I.E.D.'s, RPG's, Suicide Cars and Technicals simply because he's too god damn lazy to run with his squad 200 meters from a safer location.
Damn infantrymen never learn. Ugh...
