Barb/razor wire "walkthrough"
I've been seeing a lot on Prison break lately. After trying to remember what have happened in the earlyer seasons, I remembered especially one thing that can be connected with PR; the wire upon the walls at the prisons. I don't know if any of you have seen it(or even care about it), but in the first season, they put some clothes over the wire to get across without hurting themselves.
So here is my suggestion:
What about making something to put on the wire so a squad can get over the wire without being hurt? Mabye it(if made) could be put in one of the "request" kits so it won't be so easy to get and use?
Regards,

Usually when you want to breach c-wire you just throw something on top of it or have somebody lay on it. I don't know how "big friggin' log" will go over with the DEVs as a kit item. Then of course is the matter of how do you deploy this object, how will it let you get over (on a technical level), et cetera.

I haven't seen Prison Break but I've seen what you're talking about in Fight Club. Although it would be cool there are two big problems with it.
1) Not realistic. I'm no expert but I'm sure soldiers would more likely use wire cutters than a piece of cloth to go over razor wire.
2) Almost 100% sure that this would be impossible or incredibly difficult to do using the Battlefield 2 engine.

^ Regarding issue one, I've breached c-wire (in exercises) with sticks, logs, jackets, and even laying down on it so people could step over me to get to the other side. Really, this just comes down to circumstance. I'm not aware of a SOP for scaling obstacles... it'd be kind of ridiculous to have one. Like "If you encounter a rock..."

Im pretty sure you can just blow it up. It would be a lot easier.

Don't believe everything you see on TV. If you came across this in the field you'd either bring it down to a point you could step over it with whatever you had, or you would blow it up. Blowing it up is a lot most effective and cooler to watch.

But what about the INS? Wouldn't it be more effective for INS to just pick up a piece of debris or clothes and throw it over the obstacle, rathher than relying on a bomb maker coming. I know there is the Ambusher kit, but if you just encountered barb wire, you wouldn't call them, you would just throw something on it, or find a way around...

I actually liked the idea with the wire cutters(I diden't mean pieces of clothes, I was just fishing around the dam to find the right thing to use for getting past a wire)
Ain't it possible to do something like the cars have? All pieces with wheels are just driving through the wire without taking damage(only a little from the sticks holding the wire).

Interesting topic but there wont be any rug deployables. Its meant to be a defense object. If you come up against one better go around.

Well, in some cases, there is no way around :S[R-DEV]CodeRedFox wrote:Interesting topic but there wont be any rug deployables. Its meant to be a defense object. If you come up against one better go around.
Let's say your in a little area with some open space. Like the Goverment office flag at Qway River. There is three entries in to that area. What happens if your forces have no cars or hardware inside there, and all the entries are blocked with wire? Just wondering

Get up on the roof of one of the buildings, jump on the wall, slide down. The building is located near the front entrance.

Re: Barb/razor wire "walkthrough"
That's for getting out, but not in. I've seen the fight stall at government office many times. It turns to a dragged-out siege after a while, because people are stuck shooting through the razor wire, having no means of breaching it, even while they continue to eliminate all opposition on the other side. It's somewhat silly.Solid Knight wrote:Get up on the roof of one of the buildings, jump on the wall, slide down. The building is located near the front entrance.

get a spec ops to throw a grapple over a wall?erikkir wrote:Well, in some cases, there is no way around :S

ohh! then you can get the spec-ops to SLAM the wire so you dont have to deal with it. (or leave it so you can take its advantage)

Use explosives or a grappling hook or drive a vehicle up to the wall and use it to jump over. I mean, you essentially complaining that razor wire, when well placed, is hindering your mobility as it is designed to do. It's not just something to walk around you're supposed to use it to hinder enemy movement.

if you're a medic then just jump over it then heal yourself, simple as that. Only works when wire was set up "properly" and not in the air

Just give the engineer back his C4 or atleast alternative explosives, that was a stupid decision to remove it in the first place.
