The M109 155 mm howitzer mobile Artillery
"The M109 155 mm howitzer mobile Artillery"
"You have become cannon fodder"
Please please please please!!! I think the reduction of artillery from this mod has been a bad bad thing. I like the close air support and the commander driven feature but we need units that can give artillery support on those maps that dont have air support.
I think a great many of us would love to see a mobile vehicle which can provide artillery support for our troops on the ground to call in via a spotter/lase/grid system. This system worked well in BF1942's Desert Combat via a spotter and PR could implement it for the Officer Kit or regular infantry binocs since most troops in the field in real life have the ability to redirect artillery for regular and danger close artillery calls for fire.
It would be a fantastic addition to the realism of the game and there would no longer be troops who could hold locations simply because they hide in buildings and spawn on thier hidden rally points.
One artillery call from a seiging task force could call in artillery and hope to destroy any forces within a grid area and possibly release a grasp on a strongpoint. In retalliation the retreating forces could call for fires on the invading forces before they have a chance to get a foothold on a target area.
Speak up ppl if you want this addition.

They aren´t too small at all.

"oh, they're fire and forget all right...they're fired then they forget where the target is"

Good!! Then I am not alone.
"They aren´t too small at all."
I agree, there are many many maps that this support would be fine for.
Please hold your negative comments. This thread is for support for this addition. I would prefer just responces FOR the weapon system not against it as your comments are really small, and unsupported. I want to hear arguments FOR the usage so the admins can see the support for this weapon system. If you dont have a good reason that is more than just small comments against it then please hold your comments.
thanks in advance

Re: The M109 155 mm howitzer mobile Artillery
lol @ jonny that was awesome. if u want indirect so bad it would of been better to suggest mechanized mobile 120mm mortars. its basically a converted m113 with mortars atop it.
max range approximately 8km, minimum range 3-500m.also comes in 81mm variants. in my opinion i think the off screen mortars artillery and jdam should all be used any time a regular army is used. all at different reload times. todays army's rarely do anything with out indirect fire to soften the enemy. but i really couldn't care less...

Re: The M109 155 mm howitzer mobile Artillery
Ya Hi and no.
this is a suggestion forum so I dont think I need to develop the mobile artillery piece.
Its mobile so I think it will be well... mobile so it is not placed anywhere in particular because its mobile.
I started the tread so i am asking that I get supportive replies not demanding it as a moderator would be able to do.
Hiku is for small minded forum posters who dont have anything to do but rag on peoples ideas. I would (if I were you) try and be a little more "the glass is full" rather than "the glass is empty"
If they can get a washing machine to fly -PR devs can land it.
Now if anyone would like this type of vehicle added to some of the PR maps please sound off like you got a pair. If not then again pleaes hold your negative insecure and pesimistic replies.

Whats wrong with taking 1 or 2 guys away from the front? You don´t have to, its just an advantage if you do. You can decide, more people on front, or arty support?Jonny wrote: How many people will need to be taken from the front lines for this?
Not everyone needs to be forced to do infantry, at least have the option there would be nice.

Re: The M109 155 mm howitzer mobile Artillery
I muchly agree. This vehicle could take 2 players to run and would be very very effective against all kinds of enemy systems. Also the enemy would get the russian version of the howitser which I do not know what it is called but it would be just as effective against allied troops and vehicles. As long as somone has eyes on to target the vehicle or an exact grid to give the artillery unit.

Well dont expect that everyone will agree with you if the idea itself is not that good, especially if the topic has been discussed many times(Project Reality Forums - Search Results).
Where could this be implemented? None of the carrier maps, thats for sure(us side couldnt get it on shore, opfor would shell the carrier), none of the insurgent maps(try to imagine one on basrah or korengal
Thats my insecure and pessimistic opinion.
