No more spec ops ? Well, anyway, there was no real "Special Operations" possibility in PR anymore. Spec Ops were kinda useless gotta admit.

Re: [Gameplay] Logistics
Its not everyone, but it sure is frustrating to build an FOB and defend it while waiting on a jeep to spawn only to have someone random come and one man it and drive it across the map, only to leave it to run around with his squad...Skodz wrote:Sad you never played with any smart players... We did and "jeeps" are very nice. Anyway, it stays for Insurgency atleast (btw, hopefully there'll be more jeeps then supply trucks on insurgency).
Less of anything means it should be valued more, because only small maps are not boring for walking. Should also mean that FOBs are defended more often as folks won't want to walk from main to the frontlines.
I support the decision for this, but still wish one jeep would spawn on a longer timer on an FOB (20 min keeping up an FOB should be rewarded with a spawn).

Re: [Gameplay] Logistics
Why do people assume that he supply trucks will be sitting around the main base until some squad needs supply or repair, then someone will spawn back at main and bring it to the front. Thus allowing any sniper that spawns back at main to jump in and use it as a taxi. Isn't it more likely that since they're a such an important asset now, people will be running to get one at the start of the round. Like they do with most other vehicles. And maybe if a team is not using them at all, it's better used to get that sniper to his spot without tying up another transport vehicle for only 1 or 2 guys.

Re: [Gameplay] Logistics
So all the jeeps will be turned into APCs on conventional maps? That sounds ok aslong as there are enough APCs and they spawn fast enough to not let squads be stranded at base.
The new stationary reapair points sound good but the crewman will need to keep his slow repair ability. Crew are trained to be able to preform field repairs like fixing tracks and such. I won't be very entertaining if you have your tank disabled in middle of no where with no way of fixing it.
But then a crewman wouldn't be able to repair a tank to perfect running order in either. So maybe crewmen should spawn with a tool that allows repairs up to 50% or with only enough wrench "ammo" to repair 50% of a tanks health, enough to get the tank working so you can move to a repair point.
Could that be coded?

Counter question: Why do people assume that the trucks will not be constantly manned by a small logistics squad constantly on the move to repair various vehicles in the field and move to bunkers and such, thus totally stopping any sort of argument about their abuse.badmojo420 wrote:Why do people assume that he supply trucks will be sitting around the main base until some squad needs supply or repair, then someone will spawn back at main and bring it to the front. The snipers and lone wolf kiddies cant take a logistics truck if the logistics squad is already/constantly using it.
Its not going to be "ohh, a tank is down... someone... err... form a logistics squad and get it fixed... then dump the truck back at main and become infantry again"
If a team does that, then yes, get ready for tardery. But a good team will have the truck always manned... and therefore theres little to no risk of losing it.

wow, don't have the time to read 50+ Pages, but a little update please. So when it says where we can get our kits from. does that mean we can not get them from rally points anymore?

Because this assumes that the LogSup squad will never die and therefore either wait at base or do something useful and possibly miss the new truck.[R-DEV]OkitaMakoto wrote:Counter question: Why do people assume that the trucks will not be constantly manned by a small logistics squad constantly on the move to repair various vehicles in the field and move to bunkers and such, thus totally stopping any sort of argument about their abuse.

Thats why I said "little to no"Tirak wrote:Because this assumes that the LogSup squad will never die and therefore either wait at base or do something useful and possibly miss the new truck.
But a squad that dies will spawn back and wait for it. Where it spawns.
I dont think the stealing of these small near useless trucks to anyone else will be a big issue if you have a dedicated logistics driver/codriver

Re: [Gameplay] Logistics
Question to devs, Will the number of jeeps that spawn on maps stay the same? Or will they be replaced by APCs? I took the first post to mean there would still be jeeps, and the only vehicle we would be losing from the current maps layout is the Truck with 8 seats.
On a map like Muttrah, will there still be vodniks? Or will the number of APCs increase?

Re: [Gameplay] Logistics
There will no longer be ANY vbf2 vodniks or Nanjings in project reality. The MEC and PLA will be getting new light recon vehicles in upcoming versions of PR (not ready in time for v0.85).
APC's will be present on every map that makes sense for them to be present on, and will be the primary ground transport vehicle of PR from v0.85 onward, as this reflects real life military doctrine in conventional warfare, and also allows for some great teamwork to happen between squads and players in PR.
BLUFOR jeeps such as humvees and landrovers will be very limited on conventional maps, and their role on these conventional maps will be reflecting their real life role (light reconnaissance).
BLUFOR Jeeps will be much more abundant on insurgency maps.
Chechen Rebels and Insurgents will still retain their 50cal technical as their primary assault vehicles.
Transport Trucks (Not Logistic Trucks) will occasionally be seen in conventional and insurgency maps, if it suits the maps design.
Logistics Trucks will be seen in ALL maps.
Hope that clears it up.

Re: [Gameplay] Logistics
^ It's been cleared for me, except the Nanjings part (I knew we were replacing the vodnik, but I'm hoping it'll be the Godnki1337
)
I'm actually quite interested in how this'll effect maps such as Tad Sae, or more importantly, Baracuda. Since the USMC won't be getting humvees spawning at FOBs, it won't be entirely beneficial to place them at the edges of the island only to get those vehicles. However, if the Chinese lose most of their .50 cal vehicles, the hueys will be all the more important and useful as the transport, and since they won't have as many threats. This'll be beneficial especially for public games

Re: [Gameplay] Logistics
I like the idea of mechanised infantry and improving the APC supported infantry element as long as there are enough apc for each squad thats needs one to avoid having to use it as a taxi and leaving inf alone on the battlefield.
I am just worried about logistic trucks, magical repair crates and ingeneer not able anymore to repair...

Thx fuzzhead for the info. But your post gives me another question, if we see the new MEC and PLA light recon vehicles in 0.9 or later, how will this vehicle act? Like jeeps (just for transport) or more like an apc with all the changes we have now? Or is this not cleard yet?
And i found a nice screen from Bosco in this forum so no need to ban me for leak
. Is this the plan how the apc should work now in 0.85? So 2 guys in the apc and the rest 4 guys next to it or was this just acting to get a nice newscreen or what ever.

And as for the pic, yes, one way is to have the APC in the squad, but another way is to have it simply in another squad following the larger groups of infantry providing kits and support plus transpo as needed.
