this topic takes me back to the Vietnam days where us troops on occasion picked up an ak 47 since it had nice stopping power but it also made them vulnerable to friendly fire...if you are in the us army and someone suddenly fires an ak 47 nearby you probably at least ask your .50 guy to light that general area up (while you call in CAS lol). But its kinda weird that an "insurgent" can be mistaken by a fully suited up US army/USMC soldier.

Insurgents picking up US equipment is really a pain in the *** :P
Especially when they are prone and only their head is visible. I got killed a few times because of that.

But soldiers with shemags look pretty cool sometimes...and it's not really a strange thing:

hehe this bug is great. When i was playing Ramiel as an insurgent yesterday, i found a US kit with ACOG. So i positioned myself on a roof, and started picking off an advancing US squad. So one of them managed to get up on my roof, and was standing right behind me. But because of the helmet he was confused and didn't shoot right away. So i managed to kill him thanks to this bug

In all practicality, wouldn't YOU grab as much body armour as you could if all you had was a shirt and tea towel (that's what they look like to me) for protection?

In any case, this "bug" seems to be a hit!
Time to rise to the occasion.

Yeah, but why would you leave your $500.000 equipment behind for a teatowel :p

as for me, its a cool thing, 1.looks fun sometimes 2. more time to identify your target(on Kozelsk map you're like a ninja in enemy kit, really hard to recognize) 3. soldiers look different, not like a copy\pasted army

Now all we need to do is attack a convoy transporting humvees and we can get the party started...I mean, they can only see your head when you are driving around right ;)

"Hm, weird, that humvee isn't on the mini-map..."

Well looks like a coding issue, I agree if it can be fixed it should be done away with. Its a battlefield not a dressing room. On the other hand I wont bomb any embassays about it, though I might anyway cus I like explosions.

So, when each side has a PR made kit geo, or a old .8 kit geo it will be fixed?

I don't understand why the bug happens on none russian maps..?

Hey! Why WOULDN'T you if you were INS? You wanna run around with just a tshirt on? No! If I killed a soldier, I would totally take his guns, pouches, helmet, pants, wallet, keys, glasses, watch, fillings, left big toe, anything that wasn't all bloody.

It's not that big of a deal IMO, the benefits of more factions outweighs the detriments. Plus, now you can have 1337 Spec-opz guys with turbans and AK's with US fatigues.
Everyone wants to easily kill their opponent but nobody wants to be the one easily killed. That line of thinking escalates weaponry to the point where practically every soldier has a shoulder-mounted nuke launcher that when fired, automatically displays the text "pwnt".- [R-CON]Wolfe

Insurgents looks so funny with red berets on Basrah, and the cute British helmet and goggles that come with the Auto Rifleman is doubly funny. :p

Just to clarify, we had to make a lot of design considerations before going ahead with this change, and it seems like this is going to stay. That is.. until every single kit geometry for every faction is redone from scratch.

I think with the red berets that they look like the OPFOR sniper from COD4.

The Soviets may have only gotten as far as East Germany, but they took the rest of the continent without firing a single shot.

I assume because to allow the Russian's to use the Militia soldier models, the MEC backpacks and the like they had to tweak it so that each is an individual part of the kit rather then a full kit loadout. Since they are now apart from the soldier model and the like to make it uniform they needed to split it with all kits. Thus like your backpack when you switch kits it switches and since they used other faction's kit geo then to allow it they needed to make that part switchable with all factions.

I'm aware that sounds odd and its probably not dead on. But my mind has it in less of a clusterfuck and understands it.
