i find that when us or brits are fighting insurgents, they rely heavily on their ranged weapons, and when they spot a target off in the distance, they will ALL look at him. if i lead an insurgent squad (which isnt often) i like to have someone with an mg firing pretty randomly at the direction of the enemy (if they are in a building, this means they will likely stay inside. Then, if you are good, you can sneak up to the back of the building, drop some grenade traps, cover the doors, and do some good old fashioned bayonet charging.

A tip on grenade traps:

The only true way to not make nade traps a tkspree without basecamping is to use them to mine places you don't want ANYONE to walk on.

Such as VCP on basrah, Laniyal on Korengal and that military base on Archer.

I've found that the hit and run and or bloody nose ambushes work really well. The whole idea is to make the BLUFOR lose cohesion, which is normally the start of the down fall.

And I agree the grenade traps are used to much as a offensive weapon instead of a defensive one

I usually rely on hiding completely from the blufor, it can work some times depending on how much the US/UK fail at squad-to-squad comms.

On Archer I was Taliban and our squad was defending a cache in that small village south of the FOB (A5, A6?), we'd just have a guy on top of the ridge alerting us of enemy convoys (they rarely came by foot, always riding in their leet jeeps :p ) and we'd just wait near any nearest cover with RPGs and RKG3s and nail all the vehicles then pick them off one by one.
