I was thinking off having something like different kits for the same class.

Say you have a British rifle man, he can choose to wear heavy armour or light armour.

Both have there ups and downs. E.g,

British rifleman(Heavy)
  • SA80
Extra Body armour (Helmet, Chestplate etc)
    Extra Ammo
    Knife
British Rifleman(Light)
  • SA80 with scope
    Side Arm
    Knife
    Binoculars
    Lightbody Armour(Beret etc)
Little somthing like this if you get my point

[R-DEV wrote:Mind Game]I don't think we should make the bleeding too fast because those soldiers are valuable and are probably going to die pretty soon if the bleeding is quick. If they get hit in an organ they should bleed faster then in the leg but still give them time to actualy play the game.
Yeah, and maybe bleeding shouldn't start instantly. Like, in real life when you lose blood you can function normally for a while and then you start feeling weaker and weaker. (well, thats how I feel it anyway)

Yeah, but if you kick me in my stomach it hurts to but you can still function.
But what I meant was if you shoot my arm it'll start to hurt like hell and it will start to bleed. I will no longer be able to carry a weapon in that arm but I will not feel weaker overall. I can still run around and jump and fight with my remaining bodyparts. It is only after a while you really lose health and you walk slower, your guns start to feel heavier etc. That's when you really start to lose health and that's when I think the health should start to drop. So you have some time to find a medic and get it bandaged you don't lose more health then the health lost at the moment you were hit. If you don't find a medic in time you will start bleeding to death.

(btw. this is my 100th post)

I like that moving = more loss of blood idea.

But I was talking about a hit in my flesh. No arteries or organs. Of course in those cases you die very quickly and start to feel weaker instantly. And also it seems to be very painfuld if you're hit in the stomach or am I wrong on that? Luckily i don't speak from experience... And if it hurts that much you can't function either so you should be immoblile in the mod. And about that 10 minutes; take the case of a hit in your shoulderFLESH. Since it is very unlikely you will be running around the battlefield naked you will usually have a piece of clothes to use as improvised bandage. If no arterie is hit you will be able to survive for more then 10 minutes without really feeling weak.

Yeah, that could be difficult. But maybe just leave out the arteries and divide the body in legs/arms/head/vital organs. I could make a scheme of how I think the damage should be arranged but i've got little time now.

I am not sure if this is even possible, but I'd like to see randomly generated terrain. One of the annoying things about a FPS is that some players play certain maps until they have memorized every nook and cranny of the map. I would be nifty if they map auto-generated each round so that it's never quite the same from round to round.

Not gunna happen any time soon. New terrain means youd need to have new everything, unless you wanted static objects and flags burried under ground, or floating in the air. In the end youd neen an entirely new map, wich means youd have to DL a new map everytime you played.

But could it theoretically work if everyone had tiles of map sections around 100 yards across and the game would just make sure the edges fit?

I'm not sure if this has already been posted (23 pages!!) but I'd like to see your accuracy and reload time go down when you pick up an enemy weapon kit (if that is still available in the game). Because US or British soldiers aren't usually very well trained to fire and reload an RPG-9? Right?

Just a thought.

True, maybe Special Forces could be not as hindered as say Assault classes.

I remember something about a guys expirience at a D-Day landing. he dropped his Bren LMG in to the water, and had to search around and find it for fear hed be court marshalled if he didn't. I dont think real life soldiers would just drop their gun for one they weren't trained on and didn't have any ammo for(unfortunately IRL there are no magical ammo boxes and enemies dont drop their entire uniform in a neat stack for the taking). If worst comes to worst, you might have to call in a supply vehicle, or(if possible) ask a teamate for a spare mag or 2.

During vietnam some American & Australian soldiers were swapping their m16s for AK47s, due to the better reliablility of the AK, it was a risky thing to do though, cos of the AKs distinctive sound, u ran the risk of getting hit by friendly fire by some jumpy GI. (n no, I didn't get that from the BFV loading screen ;) , I did like a 20 page study on Australias involvment in Vietnam when I was in yr8, n I still remember bits of miselanious info like that :) )

As to that sought of thing occuring nowdays, I don't know bout the professional soldiers, though I'm sure some of the SF soldiers at least carry an AK, simply because it'd allow them to use magazines they pull off the enemy when they start gettin low on ammo, but I know some of the private security contractors in Iraq are doing it.

Then again, I can't remember the name of it, so don't ask, but there's a new mod of the m4 out which has been modifyed to take the same banana mags n rounds as the AK series, which apparently they've been shipping to Iraq as fast as they can make them, at least to the SF, due to the boys gettin low on ammo, yet always runnin into enemy ammo caches, n this new m4 mod allows them to use those caches to resupply themselves. I think someone else mighta brought it up in these forums, but I can't be bothered trying to track it down atm.

In regards to the mod, simple, just make it so they only pick up the enemies primary weapon, n maybe secondary (if they hav one), with no change to player skin (unlike DC where u get an Iraqi hat n backpack or woteva if u pick up an Iraqi kit, n vice versa)
