As much as I hate COD2 multiplayer, but it did the SMG well. If a rifleman and SMG came around a corner from each other at close-med range, the SMG guy had it. plain and simple. Even though the caliber was smaller, it was MADE for the close range stuff.
I wonder if the MP5 is like that in BF2? I never played with it, cept for a few times and was disgusted with it. But then again, I loved the shotty and the LMG's in BF2. Mabye the SMG is a ******* child of the close/med range that noone likes. Meh. This was a horrible rant.
Okay, okay. I shall refer to the terms as Shotgun, SMG and carbine. I am not so sure about the weapons of the PLA and MEC, and if they can add underslung shotguns.
Umm, I thought I read somewhere in this forums that no actual army in the world even used shotguns. So if this mod is about realism, they shouldn't even exist there...
I say we give them what they use in reality, (Benelli M4) never heard of USMC Combat Engineers using MP5s anyway. Or we could possibly use the Submachines on the more open long range maps like Oasis or El Alamein and use Shotguns on smaller more close quarters maps like Karkand and Muttrah City, sort of how the USMC Sniper operates currently.
I'd say increase the Engineer's payload, and vary his weapons on each map. Perhaps SMG for street duels/maps, Rifle for long, open maps and shotgun for the smaller versions of a map.
But if it were up to the fun factor, i'd just leave it as an SMG. Good mix of power, speed and accuracy.
SMG are really not used in reality by front line soldiers. THe questions are now:
- i am wrong or right about the orginal statement
- is it acceptable to bend reality for gameplay sake in this sake
- what is wrong is a unscoped M4 for him
- what is wrong with a choise between an unscoped M4 and a shotgun
- (another one of your own choises that you then answer or ask)
