Hey guys, I've played a few rounds as the CO in the last couple of weeks and one if my major issues with it was placing markers. It became so difficult to accurately mark a location for squads; I ended up just going by terrain features. This made the whole experience much less enjoyable and I felt like the I wasn't as useful to the team as I could have been if I could accurately relay on vital information; such as armour or AS locations.
I was wondering if anyone knows whether it is possible to improve this system on the BF2 engine and what everyone else's opinions are on the topic.

Re: Better Commander Targeting
There's a way for marking targets more precisely.
When you are in UAV, aim at the target/contact etc.. and use commonrose to spot it, now there should be red "?" flashing on the exact spot. Then just use the commander screen to identify the target on the map.
edit.
Also it's better to mark enemy FOBs with Waypoint marker. It will last longer.

Using this never seems to place it where it is needed and it can be temperamental about actually placing it. Too often I have tried to lace a question mark and it won't go down, so I have to turn the camera (due to the UAV moving) and keep trying; wasting large amounts of time. Would the be a better way to implement this with a 1 click system is what I'm rally asking I suppose. I don't know if anyone else finds an issue with this; but it has certainly turned me off playing commander.TopeH wrote:There's a way for marking targets more precisely.

Re: Better Commander Targeting
Playing commander is not about UAV spotting really. If you play it just because of it, then dont.

I didn't say anything about that being why I play it. Being able to spot is an important part of communicating to your team where the hostile targets are and maximising their effectiveness. It also makes for much easier planning as you can mark known contact locations and pass on to the squads the best way to attack an objective. With the current system this is much more difficult and sometimes doesn't work properly was my point.

I play CO a lot. It is a bit buggy but for the most part it works. Sometimes it takes a few extra clicks to get it working. Sometimes the q spotting doesn't work on the exact spot that you click but if you do it in a nearby area it'll work. You just have to use the map and compensate.

Same, i was playing Yamalia one month ago as commander i was unable to give accurate marker, on map like Fallujah it's easier because some type of building can give you a very good reference. And btw the trick with the commo rose don't work everytime.
Au dela du possible ...
