QBZ's sounds make baby Jesus cry :(

Post by Demio »

Hey,

I think you guys should up the QBZ's sounds. They sound so wimpy and pathetic :-(

It fires the same ammo as the M-16 and the SA80, yet it sounds so weak...

Make it sound like a real weapon with an actually audible "BANG". :D

Actually, it fires a slightly more powerful round. So it should sound even louder i'm guessing! We need more gun sounds like the M14 - now that's what you call a gun sound! :D

Agreed. Sounds too much like the "cap gun" sounds that were in vanilla BF2.

Actually they got it right the sound's about right. It is a bit louder but it has that distinct "pop" sound like a low caliber when it shoots.

but i agree the sound sounds a bit weak... might look to BF2 modern combat... nice sounds in that!

When I first heard a M14 firing i thought "OMG there's some enemy like 5m from me" lol
Actually it was like 30m away...
The sound is really beautifull! And the weapon is awesome as well. Not only beautifull but very efficient.

Hmm. I really like the sound effects for most of the guns. With the exception of the recycled ones from vanilla BF2.

Creative X-Fi sound card and full surround logitech z-5300e speakers. WOW it sounds incredible.

(To anyone who doesn't have surround or a good sound card, invest. Image is only half. When you put BF2 on "ULTRA" sound, you just can't go back. Sounds like there is a battle at your house and everyone's invited.

That and the effects it uses are pretty cool.

FN herstal falls? falls? I'm familiar with FN, but which weapon are you referring too? Also the M16 is not partly made of plastic. The buttstock is some sort of composite and is very tough. It's not as tough as metal, but certainly can't be compared to simple plastic.

Oh, and the "power" of the round doesn't always translate into louder report.

FAL. Well, I guess thats what he means. Probubly played JA2 too much with the "help I've FALen" in the weapon description

Anyway, remember people recount the old horror stories of M16s in Vietnam where marines/soldiers would use it as a culb only to have the stock fall off when they hit someone.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

That was how many years ago? lol

They had a lot more problems than just the stock falling off. M16s of that era were very finicky and most soldiers were told the weapon needed very little cleaning to function properly. Some were even told it needed no cleaning. You can see where that led. Improper maintanance on a finicky weapon gets you dead real quick.

Not completely correct. The round is 5.8 instead of 5.56, but it is much shorter than the standard 5.56 round (don't remeber how much off the top of my head). It is also about 20% lighter, meaning less pure energy, but the chinese claim it has superior armor piercing abilities.

Well something must be fantastic about the 5.8mm ammunition, it seems like every new firearm that appears on Sinodefence is adopting the 5.8mm ammo, everything from SMGs, LMGs and Sniper Rifles.

The cartridge is 5.8 x 42mm; .223 Remington/5.56mm NATO cartridge is 5.56 x 45mm. Always find independent tests before you take the Chinese claims seriously. However, sources report the weight of the basic 5.8mm rifle projectile at 4.5 grams (maybe about 5 grams for the projectile used in the DMR and MGs). The standard military ball projectile for the M855/SS109 5.56mm NATO cartridge is about 3.97 grams. Doesn't sound like much of a difference until you take into account impact velocity, which has yet to be independently tested, AFAIK.

Well, 7.62mm is/was used in varying lengths in the same weapons for ages. When the USSR made the switch to 5.45mm they even came out with a pistol cartridge in that caliber. It's a logistical decision. These aren't all the same rounds, remember. The cartridges used for the pistol and SMG are 5.8 x 21mm.

Anyone who is not running the sounds on ultra really needs to before commenting on the sounds, however I do agree the QBZ is kinda weak sounding.
