Even Slower Loading times with .91
Ill start it offf with a brief history.
.87 the best version of this game that came out, Perfect loading times , smooth FPS as smoot as a babys bottom. I loaded the map and always got in at 2:45 , and the round begins at 3:00
.90 Really good updates , but the loading times, really started losing FPS and i wouldnt load into game until around 2:10.
.91 FPS improves but loading times for all maps have dropped really, Now i load maps and enter the round around 1:35.
I thought .91 would bring us back to.87 load times , but i guess its just more addons and that causes more lag.
Post any thoughts and any solutions to loading time problems.

I wouldn't mind waiting a bit longer at the loading screen for new/better content, but I find that I simply can't play the new maps because of the stuttering.
Seems like you got a huge improvement in the load times if you now enter the map at 1:35 as opposed to 2:45 or 2:10?

Performance vastly improved for me. Loading times are as fast as ever, running Fallujah at a stable 60 fps compared to 20 in 0.9. And what addons came in 0.9? There were no major changes, just fixes. Might just be your computer.

I have same issues, PR is too hungry with memory. 2Gb runs out easily and when windows starts virtual memory using, lag and shuttering begins. 0.8 was the best PR ever. But when game freezes for few seconds, PB loses connection and kicks me off. It's frustrating to join and get kicked if you wan't to play in same map with your mates. Now, even Crysis runs smoother and better with my comp. If someone asks about defrag, I run it several times per month or weekly.

2Gbs of memory is sorta pushing to when it comes to PR, it'll easily use up a good amount of that 2Gb. Maps got bigger, geometries and objects got more detailed = more memory required.'Pursketuli [FIN wrote:;1331277']I have same issues, PR is too hungry with memory. 2Gb runs out easily and when windows starts virtual memory using, lag and shuttering begins. 0.8 was the best PR ever. I've noticed it too. In .9 I had loading times where i'd join in about 2:30 or so but now I get in almost consistently at about 1:50 give or take. Not sure what caused the increase in loading times.

yeah make sure u defrag. also wat OS are u using? if ur still on XP, switching to vista/7 seemed to make loading times for programs go way down (superfetch). i havent really noticed any change to the loading times from .87 -> .9 -> .91. =/

Lowering your graphics will improve your loading times very much. I play on medium, then I load fast enough to get in the squads I want.

Don't play the new maps if your going to QQ about FPS drops. The new maps are on the EDGE of frying the BF2 engine. They're very well detailed and have lots of undergrowth, overgrowth, vehicles, statics, effect, etc.
If it's laggy for you, turn down your settings. Otherwise, update your system. It's not .9. It's the new maps. .9 is epic, and kit geoms isn't what is pinning your system down. It's all the grass, statics, etc.

Even older maps, which worked propely, are now a way heavier. I can remember when the Kashan Desert was new, map loaded fast. But now all the maps are unbeliveable heavy included the Kashan. I have defragged the hard disc but no any effect to better. I have no idea what the PR team have done, but making maps very laggy is good way to loose gamers with older machines. Right now insurgent maps are too big for 64 players. You should make smaller city maps like Strike in Karkand or Muttrah city. Also there should be one Insurgent headquaters what the Insurgents should defend.Drunkenup wrote:2Gbs of memory is sorta pushing to when it comes to PR, it'll easily use up a good amount of that 2Gb. This is a massive problem for me, and has sort of ruined PR for me.
Running Windows 7, 4GB Ram etc etc...
Able to run PR all on high before 9.1...
Still can run on high, but the loading times are biblical, to go from entering at round at the 2.50 mark, to having to wait over 5 minutes for a map to load is crazy, anyone know why it is doing this?

Have you tried battlefield2cleaner recently? Clear your graphics cache, it should help.AK47shooter wrote:This is a massive problem for me, and has sort of ruined PR for me.

Umm... loading times are hard-drive & ram dependent afaik. If you have 4GB that should be fine, so the HDD is the only thing I can think of. Defrag maybe

Hmm I'm not sure then... because I load just as fast as in 0.87.AK47shooter wrote:Have tried that, even when I put all my settings on low it is really slow, Hard drive has been defragged.... Fresh install...![]()
Oh if you buy more RAM [like 8GB+] then chuck the whole BF2 folder in a ramdrive and you'll load faster than you can believe

Maybe upgrade the PC then? I mean you wouldn't expect to be able to play new games like BC2 with an old computer would you?
