Re: MLRS
Some Katyusha rockets had a maximum range of around 5 km, so while I don't support the idea of having something like the Katyusha launcher ingame, the rockets could be used as a single fire improvised artillery, kind of like this. Would be a fine addition to irregular forces.

Re: MLRS
While you add MLRS, the B52 must also be added. And JDAM. And Submarine launched nuclear warheads aswell.
Again, how come this shit gets accepted to suggestions?

Re: MLRS
That depends on the rocket being fired, no? I know Wikipedia is not a very good source but it states that the M-8 rocket can reach only 5.9km. Wikipedia also mentions that the Qassam-1 could only reach 3km (also mentioned here, don't know how reliable it is) which is well within PR map range. Of course more modern rockets have a monstrous range, but these older ones shouldn't be a problem especially considering how innacurate they would be and the fact that you'd have to reload with each shot.[R-DEV]AlonTavor wrote:Ground fired Katyushas can go waaay more than 5km. I speak from experience on the receiving end.
We already have mortars, anything larger distance is too OP.

well you are correct, but only towards the OP
see suggestions are concepts, if it hasn't been suggested before then it's allowed usually(which honestly is a bad system, there should be like 1 year of wait until it can be resuggested because communities can change or ideas can lighten up), but anyways in example of this:
MLRS is a stupid idea, but...
rocket mortar is taking from that idea and actually applying it into something doable.

Re: MLRS
There are so many assets with capabilities that they shouldn't have (some of them ridiculous) that I don't think a rocket in a mortar tube would be a problem

Re: MLRS
Did the falklands war have any MLRS systems? If we're thinking full scale(and not like single-shot mini rocket mortars) I think it'd only apply on maps which were very large and could be used by a team or as an area attack(for example, the US get the 356mm strike on dog red)

@QuickLoad
No MLRS use in the falklands conflict. But there are quite a few conflicts where MLRS was used in the last 30 years. Grozny (Russian BM-21 Grad MLRS), Iraq and Afghanistan (MARS/HIMARS with HE/Cluster/ATACMS), Syria (Russian BM-21 Grad and TOS-1 Buratino). (Ukraine, Georgia,Bosnia...)
The only thing where "strategic" assets make sense is as a replacement for the area attack.
That would wouldn't really impact gameplay but who would vote against some nice visual effects?
On the other hand something like this takes a lot of time that can be spend on more important tasks.
Gameplay wise something like the type 63 (light MLRS) could be fun on some maps e.g. yamalia where we already have AT cannons. (maybe with something like the challanger 2 WP ammo)
1-2 of those things close to each main base with an effective range of 2000m.
