PHWOAR!!!

Just a quick question - by driving a jeep/tank/APC/plane into a building (at full speed of course), will it have the same effect as blowing it to smitherines?

Secondly - will there be different strengths to building - IE a crumbling wooden wreck can have walls blown off by grenades, where as a sturdy house needs HE tank rounds?

Did you guys change the assault model for the brits? They look better now, if i remember right, the assault models used to be sporting berets. (and berets just generally suck at all levels imo)

are the buildings falling apart procedurally generated or are they a canned animation each time for each section?

hmm, well spotted. That is the British Officer geometry. And at the moment no vehicles take out buildings by crashing into them, but the properties are still being finalised.

no other way to do it. Beleive me though, these dont get old fast. Nothing better than seeing an insurgent camping a rooftop, blam, LAW into the house, giant hole, insurgent topples down though the smoke and rubble.

That map looks great, I've seen some real footage from the fighting there and the map looks realistic from what I can say.

I'll be looking forward to it :)

you should incorporate "locals" on all maps that have insurgents. "locals" have no weapons but if the imposing force shoots one, they take twice the damage. As most of you know the soldiers over there can't shoot everything in a towel. The locals only arsenal would be a laundry basket and a medic bag to heal themselves after the stupid gringo shot them thinking they were insurgents.

lol just a thought, realistic that there are civilians there though.

The damage is being tweaked by coders, and we hope to realistically simulate being hit in the face by flying rocks and hot metal
When fighting in the developed world, we call that effect the 'London brick headache'

:-D Amazing that we are now able to destroy buildings.
Great great great!!!, cant wait to try it out.
Define irony. A bunch of guys playing PR year after year. A game teaching initiative as the prime mover.
However, in regard to EA, these guys never took the initiative.

I was thinking exactly the same thing the other day, you could use the insurgent models but have them with no weapons standing in windows and in obvious cover. Insurgents (do) then proceed to fire from within the same building or close to cover.

the team against the insurgents (would like to see MEC vs. Insurgents too).
could then suffer an automatic ticket loss or some other resource penalty such as the commander suffering a penalty to simulate "hearts and minds".

All we need to have next is some "innocent" buildings that you are not allowed to destroy using DUCKHUNTS excellent destroyable building idea - Red-Cross, hospital etc, and have an AA unit parked right in front of it. Meaning that precise fire needs to be used to take out OpFor elements rather than an APC/Tank or Grenade barrage.

Great news, but I thought this evolution ( multiple destroyable objects ingame ) was something which would stay limited as it brings important lag due to the server having to keeping track of all of theses changes towards the clients.

But if you guys have been able to minimize this, it sure does open the way to some very interactive maps and thus very interesting game play.

Cheers !!

As soon as medical facilities are used to cover combatants or their offensive assets, they're fair game according to the Geneva Convention.

I love the map. Can't wait for the destructable buildings. The map looks a lot like that one we have currently. The Xtract one, Brits versus Insurgents, with a river delta running through it. Is it the same set up, plus destructable buildings?

I like the civilian idea. You'd have to put them in every insurgent map and then tone down the insurgents a little further though. But duckhunt, don't think that wink went unnoticed. Is there anything you feel like leaking?

I wonder if there's any way to include "civilian" AI where they just walk around as civilians or when there is gunfire near by they run away. Would be cool to have in multiplayer games.
Wasn't me.

I can already tell that this and *hopefully* the updated Al Basra will be the maps that define what PR gameplay really is at its ruthless, destructive, and god like core...

I remember the idea thread for this map... Came out nicely :D
The buildings also look just great, the textures look very professional.

Ok, I can't really say for sure, but I think it's not really possible =/
They could only be added as co-op players... I guess...
