I really like the AA missiles, they look so real now
Also the tunguska firing effect is really good. The blast from the missile needs tweaking though, but yeah you already know that.

First, great job Alex. Really sterling work
Second, guys let's keep the "PLAYNAME FOR [R-DEV/CON/PUB/MOD/COW/Eva!] stuff to a minimum, yeah?

Re: [Effects] helicopters/missles/other
Thanks.
I think first I will finish the tunguska, and then concentrate on the heli effects as they can be improved. I also think that I might need to lessen the dust a little bit because it might cause some lag. Won´t lessen too much though, but I will add a delay in so that after a few seconds you aren´t still kicking up tons of dust. Was trying to find out how to link it to the throttle setting/acceleration but I am not sure how yet.

Love em, though I might increase the dust on sand a bit.

That would be cool we we could see the sabot falling off !!

Re: [Effects] helicopters/missles/other
I thought the extra layer on the sabot round was there until impact, where it lets off a small explosion that helps it pierce armour and then the rest of the projectile explodes inside? Or is that another tank round and the layer is simply so it'll fit in a tank barrel?Howitzer wrote:alex , i have an idea for you , maybe you could try to modify the effects off sabot roundsThat would be cool we we could see the sabot falling off !!

Nice effects though man, would be nice to have slighly more sustained smoke, but if it lags then it's fair enough. Any videos for the more updated versions of them?

Re: [Effects] helicopters/missles/other
Interesting on the sabot, it might be possible to get something like it.
Sorry, been busy all week with exams and such so haven´t done much. But this weekend I will post an update hopefully finishing the tunguska and such. The lag isn´t the problem with the dust, but I want it to subside if the rotorwash is less, maybe I will use a delay.

Re: [Effects] helicopters/missles/other
Check with one of the military guys as to whether a sabot's casing can be seen to fall off as it leaves the barrel.
Anark:
Nope, it has to fall of for the round to work. A sabot round works by kinetic energy, not thermal. The jacketed round has a large diameter and lots of fuel. When it's fired, the round has a massive amount of kinetic energy. Due to the drag of the jacket, it's discarded - leaving nearly the full power of the large round focused in a very slim, very long, rod.
This rod then forms the actual lethal round, which enters purely by kinetic force. You imagine the pain from a very slim women's heel stepping on your toe, and scale that up. You've got something moving very very fast, and a very slim point. Goes straight through armour.

It falls off before it hits the target and preferably as soon as possible. I've never seen it fall off though, but that's me not being an infantryman/tanker.

I'll do my best to search for videos or tankers or whatever to have more information about this.

What you are describing sounds like a tandem charge warhead.AnRK wrote:I thought the extra layer on the sabot round was there until impact, where it lets off a small explosion that helps it pierce armour and then the rest of the projectile explodes inside?
